Hello Cliford,
Obituary, Remembrance, Service and
Reception.
Vivien & Roger invite you to attend:
Rosemary Doeren Rhoades, born
March 19, 1925, lived life to the fullest. She
frequently said, "I feel
like a million bucks!" and "I've got the world
by the tail!" She was a
devoted mother and successful self-made woman
that was known for her work as a
swimming and diving coach, the Director of the Wendy
Ward Charm & Modeling
School, the owner of Rosemary Doeren's Charm
& Modeling Boutique, and for her
charity work in our community through her
church. In 2005, she was
diagnosed with breast cancer that she fought back
into remission. When the
cancer returned it went into her lung and liver.
After she was told that
she would die in six to nine months, she decided to
have a special "Celebration
of Life" ceremony attended by 300 close friends
and family at The Village
Presbyterian Church on May 31, 2006. She
maintained a positive spirit
extending her life one and half years beyond
expectations. She was
determined to die attending a party, giving a party or
planning a party.
She
passed away peacefully at home with
her three sons in attendance. Roger (56) and
Michael (59) were holding her
hand and Bill (61) was on the phone from Los
Angeles, California, when her
spirit left her body on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at
7:20 AM. She was
preceded by Don Doeren, the son's father, and
subsequent husband Bob Rhoades.
Rosemary directed her body to be donated to medical
research.
She is
survived by her three sons and
their families of three grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren, and her
sister Louise Crews. Rosemary and her family
request donations in lieu of
flowers to be given to Kansas City Hospice &
Palliative Care.

Senior
Pastor Tom Are will lead
Rosemary's Memorial Service and Reception
on Thursday, January 24, 2008,
beginning at 11:00 AM, at The Village
Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road,
Prairie Village, Kansas 66208, Phone 913-262-
4200.
Vivien Jennings gave her
Reading Recommendations of
five Books on
KSHB NBC 41
Kansas City LIVE on Monday, December
18,
2007, at about 10:15 AM.

About Us...
Vivien L. Jennings is the Founder
& President of Rainy Day Books, Inc.
Since
Vivien opened the doors on November 04, 1975,
Rainy Day Books has provided the Greater Kansas
City community with a gathering place, a wellspring
for ideas and creative thought, and an ongoing voice
for
literacy and awareness. Rainy Day Books is
the major independent bookseller in Kansas City,
recognized locally and nationally profiled by The
Kansas City Star and Publishers Weekly
for its community Author
Events, which average 300 plus per year.
Rainy Day Books recommends selections to over 140
book clubs in the area. Vivien and her
romantic partner Roger Doeren support many
local charitable and
civic organizations in raising both funds and
awareness through many of the community Author
Events. Their philosophy is: "Bigger
Isn't Better. Better Is Better. We are
interested not so much in what we have done, but
more in what we still want to do. It is thrilling
to watch people leave our
Events with the knowledge that authors and their
books can expand their awareness, improve their
health, make them laugh, touch their hearts, and
encourage them to achieve a better life in a better
world. This is truly the spirit of the 'Legacy of
Literacy' that we hope to contribute to the
community."
