The Two Paranoids

One paranoid said to another, "They're out
To get me. I know it. I haven't a doubt."
Then paranoid two fixed the first with a gaze
A vampire would give a mob's torches ablaze

"It's ME they are after!" he managed to shriek
Before something inside turned his head more oblique
"Are you after me too?" he asked quietly
And paranoid one asked, "Are you after me?"

"I don't have the time, my good friend, to conspire,
What with running the gauntlet and facing the fire,"
"Don't tell me your troubles, I've got quite enough,
What with watching for snipers and cameras and stuff."

So they went on like that for a mistrustful time
Til their internal dinner bells started to chime
Then they shifted their summit to a small saloon
Where they reached the conclusion, the next day at noon

That they had to check in every day, just those two,
To ensure the inevitable didn't ensue
