Dear Cliford:

The George Washington University launches the Education Specialist degree -- Online

The George Washington University (GW) is now offering the Education Specialist (EdS) program in a convenient online format.

The EdS in Educational Leadership and Administration is a post-master's degree that provides educational professionals, at the elementary and secondary levels, with added expertise in the field of administration.

This program can also provide educators with an opportunity to meet multi-state course-work requirements, for academic licensing of principal, assistant principal, and/or instructional supervisory personnel. Graduates of the EdS program will be ready to meet today’s challenges of school reform, growing school enrollments, and increasing retirements, among others.

Program at a Glance
  • Ten-course (30-credit-hour) program.
  • Six start dates per year, two per semester: spring, fall, and summer.
  • Rich, online environment which includes discussions, reading, writing, and workplace-oriented assignments.
  • Cohort-based system in which students travel through the degree program in small groups.
  • The program can be completed in less than two years.
  • Graduate School of Education and Human Development accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

You now have the opportunity to earn this specialist degree from one of the country’s most elite universities, in a way that enables you to integrate study with the demands of your professional duties and your home life.

I encourage you to contact me immediately, so that we can determine whether this program will meet your needs. Please bear in mind that files are reviewed as and when they are completed and spots are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis.

I welcome any questions you may have, and hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience.

Yours sincerely,
