Warm Greetings From Michele
What a year 2007 was and what a year 2008 will be! We officially launched Phase II of our EC Pharmacy Access Project in 2007 and we hit the ground running. We are also promoting pro-choice legislation, defending against restrictions on choice, working to change policies that block access, identifying existing gaps in reproductive health care, and creating community-based solutions. We also have much to look forward to in the new year—the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a critical election cycle, and more. Keep an eye out for further developments in our full calendar of exciting events!
In choice,

Commemoration of Roe v. Wade’s 35th Anniversary
Join NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon and the Pro-Choice Oregon Coalition on January 22 at the NorthStar Ballroom in Portland to celebrate all your hard work for choice. We’ll have special guest speakers, entertainment, dancing, and much more! Let’s celebrate the pro-choice movement’s accomplishments together and ignite our passions for the upcoming election season. See you there!
Emergency Contraception Access Update
NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon had our seventh pharmacist training on November 15, 2007 in Salem. More than 50 pharmacists attended the course, which was facilitated by Donald Downing, professor of pharmacy at the University of Washington. His presentation covered the details of what emergency contraception (EC) is, why EC is necessary, and how the medication works from a clinical perspective. More than 350 pharmacists have now taken part in these EC trainings since the beginning of 2007. The EC training module we created is being replicated in Washington and North Carolina. We are proud of this training program and look forward to providing more trainings in the future. Let’s secure our reproductive future together.
Did You Know?
In too many areas of Oregon, women have to travel over an hour to access contraceptive services, information and supplies. Have you had any problems accessing contraceptives? Please let us know! We rely on you! You are pro-choice Oregon!
Building our Base
Our Prevention First initiative helps ensure that women statewide will be able to access emergency contraception without judgment or delay. Through community outreach supplemented by campus organizers and community action teams, we’re identifying gaps in access to contraceptive services and supplies. We also provide a forum to empower teens to reach out, educate, and mobilize their peers. Become a part of our base today. Your voice, your values, your future!
