CHECK OUT THE NEW SKATEBOOK, SCORE 1 OF 10 COPIES SIGNED BY DANNY WAY
This month at select skate shops you’ll find the very first issue of SkateBook, the new limited edition quarterly publication. It seems that each edition of SkateBook will be guest curated/edited by a different skateboarder, and for this first one Steve Berra took control. Berra packed tons of cool content into the photo-driven book, from the somewhat random to a photographic look at Danny Way’s history on the MegaRamp—from Brown Field to Point X and the Great Wall.

Despite its large size and high quality, SkateBook is free for the taking at select skate shops around the country. But with a very limited distribution, it might be hard to get your hands on a copy. That’s why this week we’re giving away ten copies of the first edition of SkateBook. As a bonus, Danny Way has signed them!

Interested? Just be among the first 10 to answer the following question correctly and we’ll drop a D-Way signed copy in the mail.

* Name the song Danny skated to in Plan B's 1993 video Virtual Reality.

Send your answer to skatebook@dcshoes.com. The winners will be posted in the DC Newsclip and at dcshoes.com next week. Good luck!
MTN.LAB 1.5 VIDEO IN SHOPS NOW!
Look for the packaging that shows the dirt covered LAB at one angle and the snow covered LAB at the other.
Head to your favorite snowboarding shop now to pick up a copy of MTN.LAB 1.5, the new video from DC! After a two-year hiatus since our last snowboarding video, the first shipments of DC’s 2nd snowboarding video finally arrived in stores this week.

Besides being fun to watch, MTN.LAB 1.5 does what a good snowboard video should do: it makes you want to go ride. Pierre Wikberg returned to serve as Director of MTN.LAB 1.5, and once again he documented all the riding and hilarity that occurred at the DC MTN.LAB in Utah. But for this video Pierre and the team headed outside the MTN.LAB’s iron gates to spots worldwide including Chile, Sweden, Australia, and Canada, plus an incredible closing section that marries snowboarding and rally cars at Snow Park Resort in New Zealand.

Featured riders include Devun Walsh, Eddie Wall, Todd Richards, Travis Rice, Iikka Backstrom, Lauri Heiskari, Bjorn Leines, Aaron Biittner, Torstein Horgmo, Chas Guldemond, Jonas Carlson, and Ryan Tiene. Also featured are special guests, including MTN.LAB mainstay Renee Renee.

Check out the MTN.LAB 1.5 section at dcshoes.com/snow for more information, then head to a shop to get a copy of the video!
T.RICE ALL OVER THE X-TRAILS PODIUM
Takes 1st in Quarterpipe, 2nd in Big Air
Top to bottom: T.Rice hits the gap, the massive crowd, stoked Travis on the podium.
Last weekend Travis Rice was in Tokyo, Japan for X-Trail, where he held it down and won the quarterpipe portion of the contest and took second in big air the next day. The strong finish in both parts of the contest gave Travis the overall win at the event, plus a big chunk of the $150,000 purse. X-Trail went down at Tokyo Dome, the biggest indoor stadium in Japan, in front of a sellout crowd of 75,000.

The action kicked off on Saturday on the quarterpipe. After winning that portion of the contest, things continued on Sunday with the big air competition. Travis had the crowd going nuts the whole time, keeping Tokyo stadium bumping with cheers from the crowd as he unleashed three double cork variations throughout the night of the super final. His bag throughout also included a FS inverted 7 and a Switch double cork 10, and those proved enough to securely lock down 2nd place and the 2007 X-Trail win.

Despite Travis’ win and a few new faces on the podium in Tokyo, DC’s Torstein Horgmo still holds down the lead in the Ticket to Ride (TTR) World Tour points standings. Travis, Torstein and the rest of the competitors now take a little TTR break before returning to action after the New Year.
MOTO TEAM UPDATE
It’s been a while since we’ve filled you in on the happenings of the entire motocross team, so here’s an update on what the eight guys have been up to. And, what the guys will be doing until the official supercross and FMX seasons kick off after the first of the year. Check it:

Ricky Carmichael—After a very grueling year that saw Ricky jumping back and forth between SX, MX, and his new four wheel career, RC is currently enjoying some much deserved time at home with his wife and his baby twins.

Travis Pastrana—After winning his second-straight Rally America National Championship a few weeks ago, Travis spent his time premiering Thrillbillies, the new video from the Nitro Circus Crew—the video is another banger release from the boys, so go here to learn more and find out how to get a copy. (Next week we’ll be giving away a few copies of the video, so stay tuned).
Nate does an interview as he gathers content for his new website.
Jeremy McGrath—a few weeks ago MC was down Mexico way for the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, driving 450-miles of the grueling desert race alongside DC Co-founder Ken Block. He’s currently laying low at his Southern California home.

Nate Adams—Nate had an incredible 2007, including a Silver at X Games 13 (despite a broken throttle finger), the Dew Cup Win in FMX, and being named Dew Tour Athlete of the Year. He just got back from Europe, and after what just might be his best year yet, Nate has been straight chilling at home in Southern California no doubt enjoying his new trophies and the cash winnings that came along with ‘em. Check out his website too.

Adam Jones—this current TransWorld “FMX Rider of the Year” had a great 2007. After an incredible summer that included 2 medals at X13, Adam unfortunately took a tumble at the LG Championship, putting him in traction as his bones heal. After a few surgeries things are looking good for Adam, but he’s still off his bike and confined to chilling on the couch. However, to keep him busy DC bought Adam a PS3 and a bunch of games. On Wednesday Adam said, “…my down time from my injuries hasn't been all bad, I beat my first PS3 game! I should be back on a bike around the first of the year, maybe a little bit before then. Hopefully… I'm gettin’ bored!”
Josh Hill.
Josh Hill—It’s the off-season for MX racers, but that doesn’t mean Josh is resting on his haunches; he’s actively training and testing for January’s season kick-off in Anaheim. Yamaha just finished their completely redeveloping their testing track, and Josh has been logging time there getting ready for the season.

Davi Millsaps—Like his DC teammate Josh, Davi has been training hard for the upcoming supercross season, hitting the tracks hard in Murrieta, California. Look for him to race in the SX class in January.

Dustin Miller—Dustin is currently in Europe, overseas for a string of FMX shows. The next few weeks will see Dustin hitting shows in Ostrava, Prague, Helsinki and Linkoping, plus some side traveling to various cities in Italy and Egypt. He’ll be back home by Christmas for some needed R and R.

DC’S SKATESHOP SHOOTOUT GOES DOWN IN MICHIGAN

Last weekend DC hosted the first Skateshop Shootout at Landslide Skatepark in Detroit, Michigan. In the casual, local event, seven shops from all over the Detroit Metropolitan area entered to compete for bragging rights as the city’s most ripping team. Josh Kalis even drove down from his Grand Rapids home base to check things out!

Landslide, last weekend's winner.

The format was simple: each of the seven teams (Detroit City Skateboards, Landslide, Modern, Premier, Skaters Advocate, TWC, and guest invite Plus) had four guys that skated to claim the rights to be the winner of the first Skateshop Shootout. The contest was broken down into 4 heats, one skater from each team skated for 10 minutes, and each skater was rated one through seven. Four heats later, the points were added up and Landslide was declared the top team, winning on their home turf. Congrats boys! They scored a box of DC product, a nice trophy, and an iPod customized with DC Skateboarding logos. Coming in 2nd was Modern, and in 3rd was Plus Skate Shop.

Thanks to everyone that came out!

SHORT KALIS INTERVIEW ABOUT HIS HISTORIC TRANSWORLD COVER

Check out www.skateboarding.com for a brief interview with Josh Kalis about his 1995 TransWorld Skateboarding cover, shot at SF’s Golden Gate Bridge. Follow this link.

BIITTNER, GULDEMOND, CARLSON INTERVIEWS IN TRANSWORLD SNOWBOARDING

Head to your local shop and grab a copy of the latest issue of TransWorld Snowboarding for interviews with three members of the DC team: Aaron Biittner, Chas Guldemond, and Jonas Carlson. The guys are included among the publication’s “Dirty Dozen,” 12 riders who are defining snowboarding right now. How did Chas, Jonas, and Aaron make the cut? The mag notes, “They had to be riders who had entered a small window… when they have skills and experience to make a difference but aren’t yet cornered by an image or swayed the responsibilities that come with the ‘job.’”

Check it out in the January ’08 issue of TransWorld Snowboarding, out now.
