December 14, 2007 - Ten days to Christmas
Eve. Have you put up the tree yet? Not me. I think the trees should be
among their family and friends during the holiday (and don't worry
about them getting cold -- they always wear their firs in the
winter.).

Dear

Where I've Been Hiding:
For those who have been here awhile, you know I sometimes spend
part of the year so focused on writing that I don't get a chance to
send out a newsletter.
I definitely missed sending out notes, but sometimes I've got to be
private when I'm figuring out stories. We've been doing good, and the
rabbits, dog and cat are also in excellent spirits.
During the fall, I was preoccupied with the creation of an upcoming novel, while I've been writing a
book that I hope will be out next fall.
The novel I'm finishing up this winter is a suspenseful, scary tale
full of twists and turns and surprises. It's set here in the part of New England where I live, and deals with a
particular young man -- who possesses a terrifying talent -- and those he
influences over their lifetimes. Yes, it's a horror novel, although I
suspect it could be called a psychological suspense novel or a
supernatural thriller, depending on your point of view.
I don't have a
final title for it yet, so I can't even give you that. But it's
keeping me up nights, so I hope it will do the same for you once it's
published.
I've also been hiking quite a bit in our area, where there are
miles of trails through slightly hilly woods and along bluffs
overlooking the sea. Even in the cold weather, I love it (probably
moreso in the fall and winter than summer, because I don't have to
worry much about ticks and mosquitoes.)
What are you doing for the holidays? Let me know so I can live
vicariously through you. I am mainly writing through the holidays because...well, once a
book takes hold, I don't like to let it get away from me. But don't
worry, I took some time off this past year, and once this book is in,
I'll take a goodly amount of time to recharge the batteries.
New Videos!

The wonderful talents at COSProductions.com gave me an early Christmas
present by creating two really cool little mini-teaser videos.
Now,
these aren't like the big one with the Hollywood special effects of
The Lady of Serpents video.
These are mini-teasers, and they're for
The Hour Before Dark as well as for the Harrow novels (Nightmare
House, Mischief, The Infinite, and The Abandoned).
To watch them, just go to
www.DouglasClegg.com/home.html and scroll down a bit to see
them there.

Those Vampyricon Emails
And finally, thank you so much to those of you who have been
reading and enjoying all the Vampyricon novels.
The emails I've been receiving for these books have been wonderful.
I really feel as if we're a community on this newsletter -- I hear
from many of you throughout the year, and I'm hoping to hit some
conferences next summer so I can possibly see some of you, too.
Please let me know how you're doing and what you've been up to --
when you get a chance. I'll try and pull back from the current novel
long enough to send out a special holiday note soon -- but in the
meantime, enjoy this season, whether you've been hit with an ice
storm, a snowstorm, or just mild weather. And read a good book!
I'll also have some surprises to announce in an upcoming
newsletter, so please, stay tuned and thanks for being here!
Best,

Douglas Clegg
