The Good, Better, and Best Ways to Find Constants and Their Values
in WSH Scripts
The COM technology behind objects such as Windows Script Host's (WSH's)
WshShell object and the Microsoft Scripting Runtime Library's
FileSystemObject object is what makes WSH scripts powerful. However, the way
this technology works causes scripters grief in one area: Scripts don't get
access to the constants embedded in objects. Learn why scripts don't get
access and find out the good, better, and best ways to workaround this
limitation in the article "How to Find Constants and Their Values" by
Alex K. Angelopoulos.

T-SQL UDF Strips Out Non-Alphanumeric Characters
SQL Server offers a variety of string functions, but it doesn't have a
function that strips out non-alphanumeric characters, such as a hyphen (-),
percent sign (%), or semicolon (;). To fill this gap, Louis Nguyen, a
database administrator for Centex Homes, created a user-defined function
(UDF) named Strim.
Strim works on SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2000, and SQL Server 7.0. To
find out how this T-SQL function works and download its code, go to the SQL
Server Magazine article "Strim Strips Out Non-Alphanumeric Characters" at
http://pentonmedia.whatcounts.com/t?ctl=703A4:6B7D3383C3CE944407DB77CE4DB758AD .
This article is open for public viewing.

Today's hackers are after your enterprise data, and the tools and services
they employ to get at it are provided by a sophisticated, fast-growing
criminal support industry. Even more surprising--and worrying--is how
ineffective today's standard enterprise security practices are at stopping
these sophisticated attacks. Attend this Web seminar to learn how high-tech
criminals compromise your computers and profit from your data by putting
confidential info up for sale.
