Remember FARM and the Animals in 2008

Dear FARM Supporter,

For most of us, year-end holidays mean family reunions and well-deserved respite from our daily cares. But animals in factory farms never get to see their families or get a break from their misery. From birth, they are caged, crowded, deprived, drugged, mutilated, and manhandled, until the butcher's knife ends their agony. Only a few people like you and I care enough.

This is why FARM champions total farmed animal liberation from all forms of human abuse.
We refuse to compromise with welfare reforms: larger cages, freedom of movement, and “humane” slaughter. Our concept of animal rights does not countenance “humane” factory farms or slaughterhouses any more than “humane” trapping, “humane” experimentation, or “humane” bullfighting.

Instead, each year since 1976, my staff and I, with your generous support, mount eight international campaigns that open the eyes, the minds, and the hearts of thousands of people to the imperative of saving millions of animals by simply not eating them.

The Great American Meatout, Global Warming, World Farm Animals Day, Gentle Thanksgiving, Veg Kits, Letters From FARM, and Sabina Fund all promote vegan eating. Our National Animal Rights Conference, the only national forum open to all views on animal liberation, turns hundreds of concerned people into animal activists. The Equal Justice Alliance (EJA) works with other social justice groups to resist the growing repression of activism.

Please check out the enclosed Annual Report and the ten program websites linked from our website to appreciate how much we were able to accomplish last year with your support.

I ask you to join me once again in this monumental endeavor. I ask for your continued generous support.

Indeed, a donation to FARM is a great investment in reducing animal suffering. We conduct our own fundraising and keep our overhead to an amazing 4%, so your gift directly supports our campaigns. I and my staff match your contributions by forgoing all or part of our wages and working extensively with volunteer event coordinators.

This holiday season is your chance to speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves. Each animal life is precious and so is each donation to their liberation.

You can charge your donation on-line, or by phone at 800-632-8688, or you can send a check to FARM, 10101 Ashburton ***, Bethesda, MD 20817. Whatever, your preference, please do it today, and help us get 2008 off to a great start!

Thank you for all your care and compassion,
Alex Hershaft, Ph.D., Founder/President
