A "cyber cold war" waged over the world's computers may be one of the biggest threats to security in the next decade. In an annual report, Internet-security company McAfee says that about 120 countries are developing ways to use the Internet as a weapon to target financial markets, government computer systems, and utilities. How do you feel about this new breed of "warfare"?

Review: A Laptop for the World
The XO-1 laptop produced for the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) initiative is a godsend for children in developing countries. But is the PC any good? Though by our usual standards its sub-500-MHz processor, only 256MB of RAM, and 1GB of flash storage aren't all that impressive, the laptop does fulfill its promise to bring good technology to people who may not otherwise get it. Check out the full review on PCMag.com for more insight.

Review Roundup: Our Top 10 Unlocked Phones
If you're none too crazy about the handsets that your cell-service provider throws at you and you're a T-Mobile or AT&T customer, you're in luck. You can kick those so-so cell- and smartphones to the curb and buy a sharp-looking, feature-filled unlocked phone. Here are ten of our favorites.

Column: Leopard Is the New Vista, and It Pisses Me Off
We all have such a good time ragging on Vista that it's practically become second nature. We never, ever thought we'd have the same reaction to a Mac OS--especially Leopard. By and large, however, PC Mag analyst Oliver Rist sees more similarities between Leopard and Microsoft's much-maligned OS than differences. Find out what they are in his column.

Review: Firedog Out-Geeks the Geek Squad
A misfiring computer can set you brutally off course at home or at work. So, if an ailing PC could bring your livelihood, life (or both) to a halt, you'll want fast, competent tech help. You'll get exactly that from firedog, Circuit City's answer to the Best Buy Geek Squad. We took the service out for a trial run and were well impressed. See why it bested Best Buy on PCMag.com.

Review: Fujifilm's Simple, Smart Superzoom
The 8-megapixel Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd is fronted by a massive 18X zoom and includes a range of useful features, offering digital SLR-like capabilities combined with the ease of use of a point-and-shoot. All told, it's a great mix of features that will surely please pretty much any shutterbug. Even with all that, though, it still doesn't unseat our Editors' Choice for superzoom digicams. Read the review to find out why.

Column: Technology's Biggest Mysteries
Twenty-first-century computing remains a frustrating landscape of booby traps, productivity-killing explosions, and head-scratching mysteries. You know, those little things that make your PC experience a little more aggravating than it should. Editor in Chief Lance Ulanoff does still love his computer, but these 20 pesky snafus sometimes just push his buttons.

Gearlog: CableCARD Improbably Growing More Expensive
It's no news that our cable bills are really starting to get a tad out of control. Between cable box rentals, premium channels, sports packages, and yes, CableCARDS things really start to add up. One Gearlogger, though, saw a little something extra on his Cablevision bill this week--one more sneaky charge to add to the tally. Head over to Gearlog to find out what it is.

AppScout: Google Adds Location Function to Maps for Mobile
Google added to its arsenal of mapping functions Wednesday with a beta mobile app that utilizes cell phone tower signals to pinpoint a mobile phone user's location and provide them with information about their surroundings. Check out the full report on AppScout for more details on "My Location."
