WOMMA Board member John Bell weighs in on the intricacies of WOM, delving into whether it should be defined as a channel -- wherein the conversation is one-way and WOM is bought and sold in measurable pieces -- or as a discipline -- which requires technique and methodology and has the potential to create deeper relationships between consumers and organizations.

On his blog, WOMMA Board member Pete Blackshaw created a list based on trend charts from BlogPluse.com of what the 2007 conversation catalysts were. The list includes such heavy hitters as Facebook and Wikipedia, as well as Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Take a look at some of the things that got people talking in 2007.

Is there a correlation between a person's propensity to spread word of mouth and their level of optimism? According to WOMMA Board member Virginia Miracle, "60% of the population share recommendations.
