While They Were Sleeping

Millions of Americans suffer from sleep disorders that can cause bizarre and unwanted behaviors in the middle of the night. Parasomnias cause some to overeat, while others might walk around the house acting out their dreams. There have even been instances of murders committed while the killer was allegedly in deep stages of sleep. Researchers are now studying whether certain parasomnias could be early indicators of more serious illnesses, such as Parkinson's disease. Read more here.

Gold Coast

The crisis in the housing market continues around the country. New numbers released today by Standard and Poor's mark a 4.5 percent decrease in home prices compared with this time last year. But in the Los Angeles area, there's still money to be made in real estate. In the posh west side Bel Air neighborhood, property values are on the rise. Read more here.

Saving Every Drop

Georgia finally received some much-needed rain over the holiday weekend, but it wasn't enough to improve the near-empty conditions of reservoirs supplying the state with water. As the drought continues, some resourceful citizens are learning to satisfy their water needs by catching every drop -- from storm drains and even air-conditioner units.
