Contract Closeout for Government and Industry: December 17-18, 2007, Atlanta, GA
About This Workshop:
One of the least performed functions in the federal acquisition cycle is
contract closeout. This important task is also one of the least understood, but
simplest to perform. The closeout process is one that protects the government’s
rights and can lead to the recovery of government funds.
This in-depth,
hands- on course is geared for the contracting professional who is responsible
for the closeout of contracts and the recovery of funds and
property.
This course will provide an understanding of the federal
requirements for contract closeout, as well as closeout planning and processes.
Students will learn the key players in the closeout process and gain an
understanding of contract closeout principles and strategies. Real life examples
and forms will enable the students to return to their workplace with the
knowledge and ability to perform contract closeout.
This course is taught
by a knowledgeable, skilled instructor, having a wealth of hands-on, practical
experience in performing and presenting this topic. This course will use
lectures, class exercises, and assignments to work on while away from class.
This approach of participative learning will ensure that each student returns to
work with improved skills and confidence in applying the lessons
learned.
Methods of Instruction: Lecture, exercises and student
involvement.
Intended for Government and
Industry.
Contract Management for Program Managers and Project Officers: January 9-10 2008, Denver, CO
About This Workshop:
This workshop is designed to guide Program
Managers and non-Contracting personnel through the steps involved with
Government Contracting. During the workshop, you will briefly review the phases
of an acquisition beginning at Marketing through Contract Closeout. As a manager
or administrative personnel involved in a project, sometimes your hardest job is
understanding the rules you need to follow and the steps to fostering a
successful relationship with your internal and external Contracting and
Government counterparts. Contracting for Program Managers will explain the roles
of all participants in the process and tie the responsibilities back to the FAR
and its overarching principles.
Topics include: Source Selection,
Protests, Contract Invoicing, Contract Modifications, Contract Disputes,
Government Ethics Rules, Socioeconomic programs, Award Fees, Incentive Fees,
COTR roles, etc. By the end of the workshop, you will feel more comfortable with
your role – and the role of others - in the Contracting process.
Contracting for Program Managers is taught by an instructor who has had
experience with the FAR as both a government Contracting Officer and a Contracts
Manager for a defense contractor. She will utilize class participation,
exercises, and collective experience to make your learning experience
successful.
Contract Management for Program Managers and Project
Officers: January 30- February 1, 2008, Arlington, VA
With
Special Emphasis on the Responsibilities of the Project Officer / Program
Manager in the Acquisition Cycle
About This Workshop:
Successful federal government contracting
requires that members of the team, both Government and Contractor, are able to
work effectively together. Working together effectively requires a basic
understanding of the Federal acquisition process, its rules and relationships
and individual roles and responsibilities. Mastering this understanding is
critical to the success of both Government and Contractor
This in-depth,
hands on course is geared for the non-contracting professional, such as Program
Managers and Project Managers, who desire to understand the process and master
their roles and responsibilities in the government acquisition process.
This course will provide an understanding for both government and
contractor personnel, of the history and structure of federal contracting, the
acquisition process, how a determination is made for competitive or
non-competitive procurement, market research, the relationship of payment and
performance risk to the type of contract chosen, contractor selection and award.
Students will leave this course with an understanding of the functions of
contract administration, including monitoring contractor performance, how delays
and interruptions are handled, contract modifications and changes, the contract
dispute process, contract terminations and finally contract closeout
activities.
This course is taught by a knowledgeable, skilled instructor,
having a wealth of hands-on, practical experience in presenting this topic. This
course will use lectures, class exercises, and assignments to work on while away
from class. This approach of participative learning will ensure that each
student returns to work with improved skills and confidence in applying the
lessons learned
Methods of Instruction: Lecture, exercises and student
involvement.
Intended for Government and Industry.
