This week the editors tackle a question
that came up in their work recently: Just what constitutes a
"location-based service"? The topic emerged as the editors discussed
which posts at All Points Blog should be tagged "LBS." In this podcast
they tease out their own definitions and explore the future of the
term. We apologize for the less than optimal sound quality; we hope the
content is worth the effort. The podcast is 16 minutes long and was
recorded on November 19, 2007.
Jani Kuokkanen of the City of Vantaa,
Finland, posted information about the city's
interactive map on Directions Magazine's Web Map Gallery: "With the help of this service
you can find addresses, service points and properties and their
locations on maps. You can use a guide map, real estate map, updated
city plan and orthophotos. You can also view information in the
municipal register about real estate and buildings."
