Yet Another Tab Sweep
pyglet
pyglet is a new "cross-platform windowing and multimedia library for
Python"—I have no idea, yet, about its quality, but this could fill
a huge need in the Python world.
W3C's GRDDL
The W3C's GRDDL spec—plus the tool ecosystem forming around it—
is moderately interesting, not only for what it can do but it strikes
me as a different *kind* of W3C standard: lightweight, produced
quickly, focused on solving a very specific need.
OWL Working Group
Staying in W3C land for a minute, there's a new Working Group to
revise the Web Ontology Language (OWL) family of specs
I have a particular interest in this one since my "other job" involves
producing a commercial OWL reasoner.
Speaking of the day job, one of our newest staff members got his new
MacBook Pro last week with Leopard discs. We all stood around like
drooling idiots staring at the pretty images and the controversial
3d-ish Dock—I like it!
Moldavian Pig Slaughter
Ever been to a Moldavian pig slaughter? Me neither, but these pictures
and the accompanying essay are quite stunning (warning: if you're
squeamish about where food comes from, you probably shouldn't look at
these)
As always, thanks for reading.
