THE SMITH 1.5 MINISITE IS LIVE
Just this morning we launched the Smith 1.5 section at dcshoes.com. Check it out for a look at Ryan Smith’s most-recent pro model shoe!

For the Smith 1.5, Ryan asked for a performance skate shoe with a very clean sole profile. He also asked for Super Suede, DC’s exceptionally durable upper material that skates like traditional suede. The Smith 1.5 is available in an all-white colorway, plus a black upper/white sole version. Ryan also created a third colorway of his signature shoe: the skate shop-exclusive Smith 1.5 SE, featuring a unique black upper with white polka dots.

The Smith 1.5 section also offers a mini-gallery with a few select Smith images.

TRAVIS RICE WINS ICER AIR 2007
Guldemond Takes 3rd
T.Rice, wicked start to the winter!
Last weekend Travis Rice scooped up his first big air win of the season by taking the victory at Icer Air in San Francisco, Calif., in front of some 33,000 fans. It was Travis’ second straight win at the contest, earning him a big $15,000 at the only big air event held on U.S. soil. Travis’ DC teammate, am Chas Guldemond, finished off the podium by taking third.

Icer Air once again took over the home turf of the SF Giants and the playing field of AT&T Park. Although skiing, exhibits, and music acts are also a part of the event (Mos Def and Talib Kweli were there), snowboarding was undoubtedly the crowd favorite. Riders dropped in from 110 feet near the top of the stadium scoreboard and hit the gap just outside of where 2nd base would be.
Chas.
Although the competition was stiff and ready to throw down some of the new tricks they’d been dreaming up during the summer, it was Travis who was the clear leader. How do you beat a perfect double corked 1080? When Travis is on, it seems like he’s nearly unbeatable in big air (remember his record from last year?).

Chas’ competitive success from last year carried over to Icer Air. His backside 1260 was enough to lock down 3rd.

Congrats Travis and Chas on great starts to the winter! For more on Icer Air, check out TransWorld SNOWboarding’s site. They have full coverage of the event, including a photo gallery with 35 flix and a short video covering the action that transpired inside AT&T Park. Follow this link.
DC | JB CLASSICS DOUBLE LABEL™ PROJECT
See the First-Ever Sneaker to Sneaker Brand Collaboration at dcshoes.com
Check out the shoe, apparel, photos, video and more on the project at dcshoes.com.
JB Classics is a premier collectible footwear brand with deep roots in street wear, fashion, action sports, design, art culture, and entertainment. Many label JB Classics the punk band of the footwear industry. For Holiday 2007 DC is proud to join JB Classics in an all-new Double Label™ Project. Check out our new minisite at a dcshoes.com to see the products that emerged from the collaboration, including a shoe, sweatshirt, and New Era cap.
JB Classics was officially launched in San Francisco, CA during the winter of 2001. Founder Jason Bass had noticed a void in the footwear industry; the lack of personality and added details in current footwear encouraged him to start his journey. Rooted in art and design, JB pushed the limits with every collection. In late 2004, Mdot and JB joined forces to steer the brand from its ultra niche platform to the next layer—JB Classics Lab® was formed. JB Classics Lab® incorporates the comfort of an athletic sneaker with the aesthetic and details of a luxury shoe, mixing lux materials with their signature graphics and vibrant color combinations to create a walking journal of travels and inspirations. JB constantly employs the hands-on approach to all produced and experienced, whether it be molding the ingredients that form a shoe or visiting the materials market to get an edge on what’s new market-wise. Reaching new heights year after year, the brand has been recognized as a lifestyle brand. From footwear to toys, the products can be intermingled and always tell a story.
For this project, the theme of grown and nature runs throughout the products. The shoe’s upper has a custom laser-etched design to resemble rings on a tree, and the sole’s pattern reflects that same concept. Tonal, zig-zag stitching completes the organic feel of the JB x DC shoe. The same unique colors and design treatments are applied to the crew sweatshirt and the New Era cap.

We’ve also posted a video on the minisite that details the project. The footage will give you a better idea about the inspiration and the thematic of the DC | JB Double Label™ Project.

THE CHI-TOWN PREMIERE OF MTN.LAB 1.5
Aaron, Lauri, Iikka, and Devun sign for the locals.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Shred Shop in Chicago, IL. for our third exclusive showing of MTN.LAB 1.5. This was the first time we’ve shown a 100% complete version of the movie, with the two previous screenings in Sacramento and San Diego presenting rough edits.

The positive sentiments ran throughout the crowd, with tons of comments about how psyched people were to go shred after watching the video. Tons of cheers were heard throughout the showing, especially during the last section with the Subaru / snowboarding session at Snow Park in New Zealand.

Devun lead a contest: whoever could hold squat the longest scored a free snowboard!

In addition to the special premiere, we also gave out tons of product and the team riders in attendance—Walsh, Backstrom, Heiskari, Biittner—signed autographs for everyone.

Next week we’ll have more info on MTN.LAB 1.5, and look for it to land on snowboard shop shelves in just a few weeks!
