5 QUICK 1s WITH BRIAN WENNING
1. After DC King of Barcelona you spent some extra time in Spain, right?
Yeah, I stayed far, far away by Arc de Triumf for a couple of weeks, and then I stayed in a hostel after that lease ran out. Then I was just skating for a few days by myself—cruised around—and then left because there was no filmer. It was good just hanging out with everyone!

2. When you’re away from New Jersey for a long time, do you look forward to getting back? What’s the first thing you do when you get home?
I hang out with my dad and my brother, skate the skate park for about a week, and then get out of there again.

3. You’re currently speaking over the phone from a Plan B trip. How are you guys doing?
We’re doing good. Security guards in Texas are kind of crazy, but they got permits for this Ryan Sheckler TV show, so they’re skating a rail right now as I’m on the phone. I’m basically watching the Ryan Sheckler show… live.
4. That’s a pretty diverse team, the Plan B crew. How does everyone get along?
It’s usually pretty good. I’ve just been hanging with PJ (Ladd) the whole time, playing SKATE. There are definitely some different types of people on the trip, but everyone gets along pretty good.

5. After you get back from Texas what are you up to? What do you have planned for the rest of the year?
I’m going to go stay at PJ’s house for about a month or so, and then just go from there. Just keep moving.

Thanks, Brian.
TORSTEIN AND KEN’S SNOWBOARDER COVER
It's also a free poster inside the issue!
In shops now, check out the cover to the new issue of Snowboarder Magazine, featuring a Subaru-piloting Ken Block hitting a kicker in New Zealand side-by-side with a spinning Torstein Horgmo. The photo, shot at Snow Park Resort, is also featured on a special edition poster inside the issue, and the footage is featured in MTN.LAB 1.5, hitting shelves later this month.

Ken, who loves driving his Subaru in the snow, has wanted to have a similar session (one that combines rally car driving and snowboarding) for some time. Unfortunately, every attempt to organize such a session thus far has resulted in big “no’s” from American ski resort officials. When Snow Park Resort in NZ agreed to allow a Subaru on its slopes, the session was instantly on.
Left, Ken and Torstein send one; Right, Eddie jibs Ken's roof.
Snow Park allowed full access to Ken, the DC team, and our cameras, clearance that never would’ve happened stateside. Things started out by Ken whipping the guys around the park with a towrope. The extra speed was incredible, even allowing the team to hit kickers and other elements uphill. It was on! The crew then got next level as Ken started hitting jumps next to the Torstein, Jonas Carlson, and Eddie Wall. That’s territory that’s not too unfamiliar for Ken… remember his 171-foot Subaru launch for the Stunt Junkies TV show? The pinnacle was when Ken hit the 70-footer side-by-side with the team, resulting in the Snowboarder cover.
Who needs a rope tow when you've got a Subaru to get you up the hill.
"All in all I'm really stoked on how well it went," said Ken. "In all the experiences I've ever had, it truly was one of the most fun things I've ever done."

Inside the issue you’ll get more on the cover. The first few pages feature more photos from the sessions, including some nice quotes from Richards, Wall, Torstein, and Block. Plenty more crazy stuff went down, and it can all be found in MTN.LAB 1.5. The closing part of the video focuses on the session, bringing footage from every angle, including from inside Ken's Subaru, from the hood of the car, and from the helicopter that was on the scene capturing the whole thing.

The December 2007 issue of Snowboarder Magazine is available now.
“PIERRE DIARIES” DETAILS THE MAKING OF MTN.LAB 1.5
MTN.LAB 1.5 director, Pierre Wikberg.
The MTN.LAB 1.5 action continues deeper inside the new issue of Snowboarder with “Pierre Diaries, The Making of MTN.LAB 1.5”, written by the Director, Pierre Wikberg. It’s a insider look at the video’s production from probably the best source: the guy who made it.

In the 8-page piece, Pierre shares stories from throughout the filming of MTN.LAB 1.5, including how a backside 450 broke his neck, the story behind getting ‘80s extreme at Northstar, and how we pulled off launching a 3000 lb Subaru at a snow resort. All of that Pierre insight is combined with photos from throughout the filming of the movie.

It can all be found in Snowboarder, on stands now.
PASTRANA IS THE 2007 RALLY AMERICA NATIONAL CHAMP
Champagne soaked thumbs up from TP.
Heading into last weekend, it was anyone’s championship. Less than ten points separated the top three rally racers in the Rally America National Championship as we headed to Michigan’s Lake Superior Pro Rally for the last round of the 2007 series. Meaning, essentially, whoever won LSPR would win the entire championship. It was Travis Pastrana who came out on top, winning the rally by just 3.5 seconds to earn his Rally America championship and become the only driver to ever win the championship twice (in a row, no less!).

LSPR is known for its crazy weather as racers battle it out on 100+ miles of gravel and tarmac roads in Michigan’s upper peninsula. This year was no different as drivers faced rain, snow, and sunshine over just a few hours!
A solid crowd turned out to see who would take it all at LSPR. Pastrana.
Travis started out the weekend strong, pulling away early from the competition. However on day two, Travis experienced a slipping clutch and some gearbox issues, a mechanical failure opportunity that Andrew Pinker jumped at. Andrew sped to 7 seconds ahead of Travis.

Travis then recovered and started to fight back with just 3 stages left. He managed to pass Pinker and win LSPR by just 3.5 seconds.

"What an amazing finish to a very challenging season," said Travis. "To win the championship by winning the final event with such a close and fierce battle is just so gratifying!”
Ken Block on the one tarmac stage of LSPR.
Although he earned four wins and made the podium in 7 out of 9 rallies, Travis had a very difficult time securing the championship this year. This year’s circuit had stiffer competition than any other year in history, and Travis was forced to fight back from some bad results at the start of the year.

Travis’ teammate, Ken Block, despite a very unlucky rally at LSPR, earned enough points to secure 3rd overall in the '07 points standings. He entered the weekend as one of the top three racers in the points, hoping to earn his first national championship. Early on day one, however, Ken punctured two tires on the first two stages. Then, bad luck continued when he clipped a tree branch and punched a hole in his radiator, an accident that caused his engine to overheat beyond repair. He was forced to withdraw. Ken said, "We were so confident coming here, we knew we had the speed to win but we never even got one clean stage, and it was over barely after it got started."

Congratulations to Travis and Ken for overcoming such a tumultuous year and achieving such great championship results! THRILLBILLIES, STARRING TRAVIS PASTRANA, PREMIERES IN HOLLYWOOD

Monday night Travis Pastrana, dressed up like that freaky Burger King guy, joined the rest of the Nitro Circus crew for a costume party-premiere of their new movie, Thrillbillies. The premiere went down at the Key Club in Hollywood, and was immediately followed by a costume contest and a performance from Metal Skool… exactly the type of random party to be expected from Travis and the Nitro Circus!

Thrillbillies, the fifth NC movie from Travis/Godfrey Films and co-sponsored by DC, shows that the guys certainly have not run out of crazy stuff to huck themselves into. From dirtbikes, monster trucks, and rallying '70s autos, to simply throwing themselves off cliffs, making massive water slides, and jumping out of airp***s without parachutes, the Nitro Circus has brought the insanity once again.

A few screen grabs from the video. Check the trailer for more, and the full video in a few weeks.

Thrillbillies will hit shelves in just a few weeks, so make sure to grab a copy to see it all for yourself. For now, you can check out the trailer at www.thrillbilliestrailer.com. You can also catch a behind the scenes style video clip on YouTube that details a particularly extreme part of Thrillbilliesgo here.
