New Orleans Dreamin'

"All the leaves are brown, and the sky is gray"...but it's never too gray to dream about a hot fudge sundae. Pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Double chocolate brownies. Peanut covered caramel apples. But really, why not stick with the non-fat, feel good option? Tres Jazz Jazzercise International Convention July 10-13, 2008. Great fun, local music, contagious energy, and zero calories.

Register now to catch the supersaver price of $299.

Technique Tips

Alternating Deltoid Press to the Front

The deltoid is used to push the arm straight forward from the chest. Abdominals must engage as you execute this move to avoid the torso from twisting or rotating. Everything from your hips to your shoulders should be squared to the front as you push front with the arm.

Developpe in Sidelying Position

With the elbow supporting the torso, this move is executed by extending the leg in front, bending in the center, and then extending the leg behind. You must keep the pelvis perpendicular to the floor and avoid rotating forward or backwards during the leg movement from flexion to extension.

A Weight-Controlled Thanksgiving

Most of us gain approximately one pound every holiday season, according to the National Institute of Health. And while one pound may not ring ominous at first glance, that pound stays with us, and is accompanied by another pound of weight gain every subsequent year. Add up dozens of holiday weight-gaining seasons over the years, and it’s a recipe for an expanding waistline. Click here for steps to keep the pounds off this Thanksgiving.

Stay Young, Stay Sharp

Source: Prevention Magazine

Socializing is listed as an effective way to stay young and sharp, along with getting adequate sleep, eating an apple a day, and exercising. Regular socializing is said to keep the brain sharp by reducing the stress hormone, cortisol. Hugs, pats, and other signs of physical affection are noted as helping the brain grow. A new line of thinking suggests "dancing the night away" as a viable alternative in this category. Dancing offers a "trifecta of brain protectors" - social interaction, mental challenge, and physical exercise.
