BBC RADIO 5LIVE'S ELEANOR OLDROYD
If the England rugby team wins the World Cup and Lewis Hamilton claims the Formula One world title this weekend, it is going to make the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Award very interesting indeed.

Hamilton would get my vote, but a certain Jonny Wilkinson would have a pretty strong claim.

My job has taken me to some fantastic events, and this weekend I'll be in Brazil presenting BBC Radio 5live's coverage of Hamilton sealing the F1 title - I hope!

The 22-year-old is in pole position as far as the championship standings are concerned, with a four-point lead over bitter rival and team-mate Fernando Alonso.

He has shown the most incredible maturity and been completely unaffected by the nonsense that has gone on off the track at McLaren.

His main worry is that Alonso won the title at Interlagos last year and knows the circuit very well, unlike Hamilton, whose only experience of it is via a PlayStation game.

Before the cars get on the grid, I've got to find a TV set in Sao Paulo that is showing the Rugby World Cup final.

Brazil obviously isn't a rugby hotbed, but I suspect I will find a television screen in the pit *** surrounded by fanatical Formula One mechanics cheering on England.

I'm feeling quite optimistic about their chances against South Africa.

England's battle hardened and self-confessed grumpy old men have created a quite astonishing and inspirational story throughout this World Cup and have responded brilliantly to their humiliating 36-0 defeat to South Africa in the pool stages.

I think the Springboks are so incredibly confident that it could be their undoing.

I don't want to use the word arrogant, but there appears to be an assumption that they've only got to turn up to win it.

Both events are live on Radio 5live as well as the Old Firm derby on Saturday and the return of the Premier League following the international break... make sure you stay tuned to BBC Sport.
