HANDHELD NETWORK TESTER HAS INTEGRAL CABLE MODEM
Sunrise Telecom has introduced a handheld cable modem network analyzer
that runs Windows CE 5.0 and displays graphical data on a 6.4-inch VGA
touchscreen. The CM2000 has a built-in DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem, and is
also capable of VoIP testing.

WEBKIT COMING TO WINDOWS MOBILE?
Wake3, a Silicon Valley stealth-mode startup, reportedly has developed a
Windows Mobile version of WebKit, the open-source HTML rendering engine
used by Apple in its Safari Web browser. "WebKit for Windows Mobile" is
said to be available now to device manufacturers, wireless operators,
and enterprises.

WINDOWS CE-BASED GPS DOCKS WITH CAR STEREO
Alpine Electronics has released a Windows CE-based GPS system that can
be used as a portable, with a windshield cradle, or docked in one of the
company's A/V head units. The Blackbird PMD-B200 includes built-in
Bluetooth and a tuner for receiving traffic information.

DATA COLLECTION HANDHELD INCLUDES GPRS/GSM/EDGE
Datalogic has announced a rugged, data capture handheld with a built-in
laser scanner and extensive wireless capabilities. The Kyman Version 5
runs Windows CE 5.0 and will soon be available with Windows Mobile 6.0
as well.

CONFIGURABLE AUTOMATION COMPUTER HAS GIG-ETHERNET PORTS
Advantech has added to its range of "embedded automation computers" with
a Pentium-grade system that runs Windows XP Embedded. The UNO-2172
supports both PCI-104 and PC Card expansion, plus two gigabit Ethernet
and four serial ports.

APPLICATION PROCESSORS A VANISHING SPECIES?
ABI Research is forecasting that standalone baseband processors are set
to become a thing of the past in the wireless handset market. Instead,
says the firm, they'll be replaced by SoCs (system-on-chip processors)
that integrate a baseband processor with a "multimedia-rich" application
processor.

CHINA COMMISSIONS A POCKET PC PHONE FOR ITS POLICE
China TechFaith Wireless Communication has contracted with China's
Ministry of Public Security to develop a "Pocket PC Phone" for the
police forces in two Chinese provinces. The device will feature GPS, an
ID scanner, and other features related to onsite law enforcement.
