JOIN US IN LAUNCHING THIS YEAR'S BIG BANG! & LITTLE BANG COMPETITIONS

The entire UC Davis and Sacramento area community—including faculty, students, staff, alumni, and regional businesses and investors—are encouraged to attend. You will have the opportunity to interact with students, researchers and others interested in participating in both competitions. Learn how you can get involved, develop your entrepreneurial interests and support entrepreneurship in the Sacramento region!

 

EVENT SPEAKERS

Dr. Raju Pandey is the company’s co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of SynapSense.

He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, at the University of California, Davis.   While at UCD, Dr. Pandey led the SENSES project , which was funded in part under National Science Foundation grants. Dr. Pandey's research interests are in wireless sensor networks, distributed and parallel systems, system software, programming languages, security and software engineering.  Dr. Pandey has authored over 40 papers on sensor networks and distributed computing and is a patent holder in this space.  Dr. Pandey holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas, Austin, a M.S. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Bachelor in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

 

Juliet Hodder is the owner of Ensembles, LLC.

She is an MBA candidate with professional successes in founding an ongoing retail concern, business development, and planning. While at UCD, she entered her idea into the Big Bang! competition in 2005 and took First Place overall. As owner and managing member of Ensembles, LLC, she launched and capitalized a successful, retail meal-assembly kitchen in the San Francisco Bay Area, serving thousands of customers in the first year of operations.

 

We look forward to seeing everyone at the kickoff event. This business casual event is a FREE event and will present you with all the information you need to participate in both of this year’s competitions.

 

The Little Bang poster competition, which links research results to market opportunity, encourages graduate students in the sciences and engineering to explore the commercial potential of their research.

 

The Big Bang! Business Plan competition helps you transform your ideas into action, by developing a complete business plan. In total, a $35,000 prize pool is available to winning teams!
