A Note from Linda:
Hi Criss,
What a whirlwind week this has been! Today, I'm in Cleveland filming some of my techniques. (I'll fill you in about when and where you'll be able to view them in next week's newsletter). I won't even mention my lost luggage -- including all my layouts and clothing for the taping!-- or the fact that my house is in disarray because of some remodeling we're doing to accommodate my husband Charlie's parents, who moved in yesterday. Sometimes there are just not enough hours in a day, or days in a week, if you know what I mean.
On that note, just so you know, the October Premier will be out in a few more days, as soon as I can get back to town and release it. But I can promise you, it will be worth the wait! Meanwhile, if you haven't downloaded everything from September, you have an extra couple of days to get that done.
Don't forget Tuesday's Adobe online seminar...

October Forum Challenge: The Great Pumpkin Carving Contest!
Last year, we learned to carve a digital pumpkin, courtesy of a great tutorial by Jackie Langley, known on the Scrapper's Guide Forum as fotogirl19.
This year, it's back and we're making it even more fun! Download the tutorial and get to work! The contest is open to all registered Scrapper's Guide Forum members. Carve your pumpkin any way you like: with a face, a shape, design or a pattern. The most creative carving wins!
First place winner will receive a $50 gift certificate for the Scrapper's Guide Store, plus a 12x12" scrapbook album with page protectors, ready to hold your printed pages. Two runners up will receive a $25 gift certificate to the Scrapper's Guide Store, plus an 8x8" scrapbook album with page protectors.
We're not looking for layouts. Just really cool carvings. You can put your pumpkin on a background if you want, but we'd like to see it as large as possible in the Pumpkin Gallery.
Download the tutorial here. It includes the pumpkin PNG file, so you can get started right away.
The challenge begins now and runs through October 31st. The winner will be announced in the Monday, Nov. 5th Digital Scrapper e-zine.
Designer's Favorite Page
Last week's template was designed by Creative Team Member Penny Yeatts. She chose the Lyenell layout by connieg as her favorite. Here's what Penny had to say:
I just fell in love with Lyenell's sweet face. I love the way Connie added the extras around the matting of the main photo. The filmstrip in the background adds just the right touch with bringing the purple out from the main photo.
And I love the doodles which are also done with the purple shades. Great job Connie!

This concludes our Template Series...
We want to thank our talented Creative Team members: Karen, Nancy, Penny and Sharon, who worked so hard to bring your this wonderful series of templates. Be sure to show them some love in the Forums for the great job they did!
And the fun continues! We'll still be choosing outstanding examples of your Tip of the Week pages to showcase in our weekly e-zine. You'll post your pages to the usual Tip of the Week Gallery.
Tip of the Week:

From So-So to Something Special with Selective Color
Linda's away on business today, so I get to share one of my favorite techniques for our Tip of the Week. Here's a quick way to take an ordinary image and create something extraordinary.
There are many ways to convert color images to black-and-white, and many ways to do selective coloring.
But this is a super-fast way to achieve the goal, using some of the built-in tools you'll find in Elements 5.0.
Ready to get started?
