It's been alternating between rain and sun in Seattle. Right now, we're getting a crazy apocolyptic rain and the cats are fully freaked. We've been a wreck this week. I had the worst ear infection ever and popped over to the doctor. He gave me some painkillers that didn't really do anything more than the excedrin I had been popping like m&ms but the side effects were rather profound. It's getting better and the oxycodone is out of my system but the eardrops are always uncomfortable. Only LGCs this week. Enjoy the specials.

Washington State taxes US GI's in IRAQ (and their families) 129% on Internet Cigar Sales (presumably to protect their health and well being).
The Educated Cigar LLC (a WA State business), filed on 9-11-07 a lawsuit (CV-07-5057-RHW) in Federal Court against the State of Washington (Wiest et al) to promote the competitive sale of cigars and eliminate the unconstitutional Washington State "Other Tobacco Products" (OTP) tax, which discriminates against interstate commerce and violates "Equal Protection". The Washington State OTP tax discriminates against interstate commerce.
We have communicated in writing many times over the last 4 years with The Governor, Legislature and WA State Department of Revenue about these issues and they have done next to nothing. Whereas the WA State Department of Revenue has sent us a 'back' tax assessment that is mainly the result of them billing us at a rate of 129.42 per cent for OUT-of-STATE sales, and demanding immediate payment, we were forced to file a suit in the Federal Courts (on 9-11-07). The State has even required us to tax mail-order shipments to US GI's stationed all over the world, including Iraq, but we have refused to do so and the State of Washington is now saying pay up.
Cigar smokers and those wishing to help us defend the US Constitution should consider contacting the Governor's Office of Washington State and voicing your opinion. The Governor, Chris Gregoire can be reached by phone 360-902-4111 and fax 360-753-4110.
