This week the news spotlight falls on the United Nations headquarters in New York, where the leaders of the world gather for the UN General Assembly meeting. The BBC's United Nations correspondent, Laura Trevelyan and BBC diplomatic correspondent James Robbins will be leading coverage of the speeches, debates and behind-the-scenes manoeuvring. The BBC World news teams will also be reporting on the two rival conferences held on climage change this week – one is hosted by UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon in New York and the other by President Bush in Washington DC. Also this week, viewers from outside the UK now have, for the first time, access to a broadband news clip service from BBC World. Every day, around 30 broadband-quality international news clips and hourly one-minute World News summaries can be watched by clicking on the 'watch' icons at bbcnews.com, giving viewers access to the BBC news content they want - when they want it. |

World Uncovered: So You think You Know Africa? |
| |
The usual presentation of the African continent in the European media is unrelentingly negative, with stories of civil war, corruption and disease. So you think you know Africa? challenges these negative perceptions, following a day in the life of four Africans: a Kenyan goat farmer; a reporter in conflict-torn Eastern Congo; a teacher in Zambia; and a park warden in a wetland forest in Ghana.
