PHP “Unconference” Sessions

The MySQL Community Lounge will feature “unconference” session facilities. Attendees will use the Lounge for impromptu sessions – vastly expanding the conference offerings. At night, the Lounge will be a great place to network with other attendees (XBoxes will be provided thanks to Microsoft).

Cory Doctorow, noted blogger, journalist and science fiction author who serves as co-editor of the popular blog BoingBoing, will explore how the collaborative efforts common in the open source community have begun to trickle into our everyday lives. As someone who is very anti-DRM, he will also talk about the practical, economic and social upshot of having perfect copying machines on our desks just as the American economy is retooling itself around the idea of controlling copying.

Joel Spolsky | CEO of Fog Creek Software

Joel Spolsky is an expert on software development and the founder of Fog Creek Software. His website “Joel on Software” is popular with software developers around the world and has been translated into over thirty languages. He has written three books about software development. The latest is “Smart and Gets Things Done: Joel Spolsky’s Concise Guide to Finding the Best Technical Talent.” From his unique perspective Joel will define what great software is and how you can create it.

Harold Goldberg | CEO of Zend Technologies
