DC KING OF BARCELONA CONCLUDES THIS WEEKEND

This weekend we’re wrapping up the 15-day long DC King of Barcelona, an amateur street skating contest that takes Barce locals to some of the city’s most legendary spots. After hitting Sants and then Forum, this Saturday, 9/15, we take the contest to MACBA, el Paralelo, and La Barceloneta for a three-spot day to ultimately find Barcelona’s king.

The day’s first session will begin on MACBA’s big four. Then, skaters will head directly to the infamous manual pads of El Paralelo for the second stop of the final event. It’s here that judges will begin selecting the top ten that will return to MACBA to skate the “final finals”. The contest will continue and the top ten will be finalized at La Barceloneta—skaters will session the steep granite banks, bank to ledges, wooden benches, handrails and more.
The ten finalists that make it through the three daytime spots will skate the final session at MACBA. It’ll be there that we find out Barcelona’s king, and give them the 2000 euro cash bonus that goes with the crown.

WELCOME TO DC MOTO TEAMWORKS

This Fall we’re proud to unveil DC Moto TeamWorks, a collection that honors four of the most legendary riders in motocross: Ricky Carmichael, Travis Pastrana, Jeremy McGrath, and Nate Adams.
The packs – a custom shoe, hat, and tee for each – serve as extensions of each rider’s respective personality and design needs. Pastrana wanted a pack that reflected his Subaru and Suzuki team colors, and also provided airbag cushioning for his abused knees. RC asked for a technical shoe that he could train in, and also a heel area that resembled an mx racing chest protector. MC wanted a utility boot, in Honda colors, that he could wear while whipping around the track on his mini. And Adams wanted something casual that matched his Yamaha roots.

Just today we launched our custom Moto TeamWorks site at www.dcshoes.com. The site has all the info on the project as a whole, including bios, quotes from all the guys, short video interviews, and shots of the products.
In the coming weeks, look for an extended 10-minute long video that will detail the Moto TeamWorks project, including the design process for each of the riders.

EA’S SKATE IS IN STORES NOW!

After much anticipation, a lot of hype, a little cynicism, and about a thousand painfully teasing trailers, this week EA Sports released SKATE. Pick it up now to see what all the fuss is about!
|
|
From the beginning Danny Way put his stamp on SKATE, insisting that it would be the first real depiction of street skateboarding to hit the gaming scene. He got intimately involved in the game’s creation, making sure things stayed on point and 100% legit. He then went on to recruit nearly the entire SKATE cast, including Colin McKay, Rob Dyrdek, Ryan Smith, Ryan Gallant, and some more of the biggest names in skateboarding.

You’ll catch footage of Ry shredding the points around his hometown of Kalbarri, both the lefts that we’re used to seeing Ry destroy as well as him on a few rights. About his mainly-left home breaks and those who say he only goes left, Ry said, “It’s just where I grew up… it’s all lefts. I can’t really help that. I definitely love surfing backhand (right), but not s**t waves. If there’s a good right, I’ll froth to go surf it!”
