Though Georgia indie-rock band Dark Meat includes more than 20 collaborators (including former members of Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control), its music swells and swarms like a single-minded mob. Imagine The

created a coherent (and highly quotable) comedy out of sketches that turned dismemberment (?It?s just a flesh wound?) and the bubonic plague (?I?m not dead yet?) into fertile material. And it?s relevant to the times?just take in a prayer levied for a Holy Hand Grenade: ?Oh Lord, bless this hand

For much of Common?s career, superstardom has stayed frustratingly just out of reach. The gifted rapper has a long, impressive discography stretching back to the early ?90s, though the world really didn?t notice him until
2000?s Like Water For Chocolate. Even then, Common stayed mostly under the mainstream radar, often relegated to the backpack scene. Although it must have irked him a bit to see his friend, collaborator, and fellow Chicagoan Kanye West hit one out of the park with his 2004 debut, West?s
superstardom has proven that a rising tide raises all boats: Common?s new West-produced album, Finding Forever, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart. Though it resembles 2005?s excellent Be?also produced by West?too much, having more of a good thing is never bad. And with his
