A Note from Linda:
Hi Criss,
Scrapbooking is all about memories.
Sometimes our memories are good, and sometimes they're not.
September 11 is the anniversary of the most heinous event I've known in my lifetime, when two airp***s were flown into the World Trade Center by terrorists, and two other p***s were deliberately crashed as acts of terrorism.
This September, even as we remember these events and the loss of life they entailed, may we be thankful that good can, and will, triumph over evil.
Last week of Special!
For one more week you can get Make Fido Famous or Make Fluffy Famous by Karen Aicken for half price.
These CDs are perfect for creating a fast album about a special pet. Hurry, though. The sale ends September 16, 2007!
Love and scrapbooking success,

Linda Sattgast

Get That GRUNGE Look!
This month's Premier is all about fast ways to create digital grunge for a hip look on your scrapbook pages.
September Lesson #2:
Threshold Grunge Embellishment
You may already know that the Threshold filter is great for creating grunge, but in this lesson I'd like to show you how to make an elegant flourish corner frame using photos and the Threshold filter. Once you learn this method you'll be looking for opportunities to apply it on other photos!
Here's a closer look at the corner grunge flourish.
This month's exclusive designer kit for Premier members is called Fancy Free by Jenny Binder. This fabulous kit includes over 100 doodle brushes!

Designer's Favorite Page
Last week's template was designed by Creative Team Member Karen Aicken. She chose Baby Taylor by coppercurls as her favorite layout design. Here's what Karen had to say:
While the photo isn't the first thing I noticed about this LO (it's the title I see when I first look at it), the placement draws my eye directly to that sweet photo. I love the way she used Jenny Binder's Fancy Free September Premier kit and all those fun doodles.
The checkered frame really keeps the focus on the picture and title, while the doodled scalloped frame and another checkered outer edge keep the eye from wandering off the page. The stars add to the "baby sleeping" theme, and the swirl on the left keeps the whole piece soft looking.
Finally, the Scrapper's Guide Stitch in Time brushes add just a hint of texture and depth to an already wonderful scrap.
By the way, congratulations coppercurls, on your very first Gallery post! Nice job!
This week's template by Creative Team Member Nancy Marti
This week I created a template layout that focuses on a single picture but uses multiple background papers in 'blocks'. It is versatile enough to use for a man, a baby, a pet or a place.
The unique thing about the template is the placement of adjectives in the blocks to describe the photo, thus making the photo the focus without it overpowering the page.
I used Michelle Shefveland's Simply Elegant Albums CD and chose the Vanilla Dreams pack to select my papers. Be sure to add drop shadows to give your layout some depth. The fonts I used in this layout are: Papyrus, Hot Tamale, Liorah BT, Splendid Ornamentry, Stylus and AL Fantasy Type.
Design tip: Try not to stack two script fonts as they will compete for attention and actually create a confusing layout to the eye.

Tip of the Week:
This week Jenny Binder is our guest instructor. Welcome, Jenny! Her tip is called:
Doodle Cutout
As our featured Premier designer this month, Jenny certainly is an expert, but did you know that Jenny started out just like many of you? She wanted to learn digital scrapbooking, so she ordered my original DVD, The Scrapper's Guide to Adobe Photoshop Elements for Elements 2. (Does that give you hope?!)
In this tutorial Jenny will show you how to make a "Doodle Cutout." She'll be using one of her doodle brushes from the Fancy Free Premier Kit, but you can use any kind of line art (or create your own doodle) and follow along.
