welcome to residential architect business update
S. Claire Conroy   Dear Readers,
In this special issue, we profile a handful of architects who are working tenaciously to put the pieces of post-Katrina Louisiana and Mississippi—the states hardest hit—back together again. They are alternately hopeful and pessimistic. Everyone participating in the recovery has a different view of what the finished picture should look like. So consensus on what to do now and next is difficult to secure. Almost no one thinks rebuilt neighborhoods should tower atop 12-foot-high foundations, and yet in some places that may happen. complete story

AZEK® TRIMBOARDS HAS THE EDGE ON DESIGN AND LONGEVITY

The sky’s the limit when it comes to designing exterior trim with AZEK Trimboards. Specify the leading brand of trim for long-lasting beauty and designs that will withstand the test of time. AZEK Trimboards is more versatile than wood, both on the jobsite and in the millwork shop, where it can be easily milled, mitered, routed, turned on lathe and even heat-formed into arches and unique shapes. It does not require paint for protection, however if a paint color is desired, it has excellent paint adhesion that will last years longer than painted wood. Now, new Sherwin-Williams VinylSafe Color Technology makes it possible to paint AZEK products in a broad range of darker colors to suit any home design. With a 25-year warranty, AZEK Trimboards is the only brand of trim to hold a building code report (ESR-1074).
