Wednesday evening's earthquake on Peru's Pacific coast registered a massive 8.0 on the Richter scale. Villages were leveled, leaving thousands homeless and in need of medical care and basic supplies. Many of those worst affected were barely scraping by even before the tragedy. Humanitarian groups are already on the scene, assessing the situation and preparing relief efforts.
