DC KING OF BARCELONA IS JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY
Our takeover of Europe’s skate mecca is a mere two weeks away! From September 1-15, DC will be in Spain for DC King of Barcelona, the third installment of the innovative King of series and the first contest outside the United States. Check out www.dckingof.com for all the details on the upcoming amateur street skating contest.

Barcelona was the obvious choice for next contest in the series. It’s one of the best street skating cities in the world, and the level of talent of Barce’s local amateurs is incredible. Those skaters will battle it out at some incredible spots as they fight for the DC King of Barcelona title and over 6000€ in prizes. First, the marble tables at Sants. Second, Forum. Third, a secret (but definitely infamous) Barcelona spot.

All unpaid amateurs are welcome to skate DC King of Barcelona… check out the COMEPTITION section at www.dckingof.comfor details on how to get in!
The Forum: one of three spots DC and Barce ams will hit next month.
As with previous DC King of trips, the skate team will be on hand throughout. Between judging the contests and hitting the autograph signings and special events (see the CALENDAR section), the guys will be doing plenty of skating of their own… look for the footage in the DC King of Barcelona podcast (coming after the trip).

Once the event gets rolling, stay tuned to www.dckingof.com for updates—that means contest results, daily updates, lots of photos, and behind the scenes on some of your favorite DC skateboarders.
CHECK THE NEW TRAILER OF EA’S SKATE
Digital Danny wallride.
This week EA released the new commercial to their highly anticipated new video game, SKATE, and we’ve posted it in the skate section at www.dcshoes.com. It’s a funny new look at the game, and the commercial features (the non-animated) Danny Way, Rob Dyrdek, and Ryan Smith, plus appearances by Renee Renee if you pay attention (in two personalities). Follow this link to watch the commercial and see some screen grabs at dcshoes.com, and watch for SKATE when it’s released next month.
WANNA CHILL WITH ROB DYRDEK AND BIG BLACK IN HOLLYWOOD?
DC, MTV, and PacSun are giving you the chance to hang with Rob Dyrdek and Big Black in Hollywood! 10 Grand prizewinners will score dinner for them and friend with Dyrdek and Black, roundtrip airfare to L.A., lodging, and a signed DC prize package.

Sound pretty sweet? To enter, visit www.pacsun.com and fill out the really simple form. Or, just text “DCROBANDBIG” to 39668. Go here for more info and to enter now.

In other Rob and Big news, the fellas just started filming for the third season of their killer show on MTV. No doubt we're in for plenty more madness on the airwaves when season three premieres in a few months. Look for more updates in the DC Newsclip over the next few months!
RICKY CARMICHAEL CAPS OFF CAREER WITH A WIN (HIS 150TH!)
Typical view RC's competitors get. When people call this guy the Greatest of All Time it's no joke!
Last weekend Ricky Carmichael finished his legendary two-wheel career with a win at the Millville National, the 150th victory of career. He did so in typical RC fashion, going 1-1 to earn his last Moto podium ever.

RC chose to end his career this year, and only raced 2007 part time for fun and for the fans. Nonetheless, he won all six races he entered. And looking back, he raced 10 Outdoor seasons, and won all 10 Outdoor championships for those years.

In the first Moto Ricky got caught in some early traffic, but it wasn’t long before he was out front and slowly increasing his lead, whipping his Makita Suzuki for the fans on the way to his first checkered of the day. The second Moto was more of the same, with Ricky starting things off in the top 10 and taking the lead by the end of lap three. He was then gone, running away with the win.
It's impossible to define the impact this man has had on the sport.
About his career, RC said this week, “…I definitely gave it 100 percent all the time and I have no regrets with anything that I did. I am happy to say that. That is one thing I never wanted to do, and that is look back and say I wish I would have done this. It’s not the end of an era because there are a couple more coming up and I am excited about it.”

By “a couple more” RC means Moto of Nations next month at Budds Creek, then rumors of 1 or 2 more races this year. Stay tuned to the DC Newsclip for more MX action, and check out Racer X’s Monday conversation with Ricky now… go here.

DC FLOW’S MANNY SANTIAGO WINS AT BACK TO THE BANKS
Manny Santiago, kickflip board.

Big ups to DC flow rider Manny Santiago, who killed it at the Back to the Banks contest at the Brooklyn Banks in NYC. Manny got 1st place on the rail and a cool $1000 to go with it! Nice one Manny! Check out photos from the event at www.skateboarding.com, go here.

CHRIS DOYLE WINS DIRT AT REBEL JAM
Chris Doyle, super stylee on the mini.

Last weekend the Rebel Jam went off in Germany, and DC’s Chris Doyle toppled some mighty stiff competition by taking the win in Dirt (beating Nyquist, Bohan, and others). Chris ripped on dirt, but at Rebel Jam he showed that he can also handle things on the miniramp… he took the Style award on the 6 footer.

Congratulations Chris! ridebmx.com has posted some video clips that detail the Rebel Jam in Germany… go here to check them out.

LINKIN PARK’S MIKE SHINODA TALKS DC ON LOVELINE
Screen grab of Mike while chilling with Loveline late night.

Cruise on over to Loveline’s site to check out a short video of DC friend and shoe Remixer Mike Shinoda. The Linkin Park front man talks about what’s been happening with him lately, and also the limited DC King of L.A. kicks on his feet (look for a new project from Mike and DC sometime next year). Follow this link to watch the clip.
