Hey Shanghai,

How U Doin'?  I recently had someone send me his opinon of my newsletter criticizing my contribution to the Shanghai community.  He stated that he knows more about this city than I do and that I wasn't concise enough about my reportings and... blah blah blah.  I mean, he should know everything, afterall, he's lived here for the entire time of what... six months?!  Newsflash! I have been here for twelve YEARS buddy!  Your point is? Just ask yourself if you really know this city and the people that live / party / work here.  This newsletter is a service for new people coming to the city and older expats that don't have the time to be "cool" like you because they have companies to run and families to tend to, and that does not allow them the luxury of trying to get on every guestlist because they think they know someone that knows someone or striking a pose everytime a camera is around.  You should be more appreciative and less critical and more importantly... only voice your opinion WHEN and IF it is asked for. 

My advice is start your own newsletter before you open your Eurotrap. :-) 'Nuff Said. 
  
On with the show!  This weekend will be overshadowed by the arrival of Avril Lavigne next Wednesday and of course the afterparty.   But this doesn't mean there is less to do this weekend.   Party themes are St. Tropez - Power to The Leos - Belgian Beer Tasting - Open Bar Flamenco - Celebrate India Day - Dress in Drag - Back to the Roots - Wine Tasting - Canuck Connection - Enjoy Summer release party - Hawaii Party - Another wine tasting - and Antidote.  Not to mention all the regualr hoppin' and buzzin' places there are to go to all over this fine city of ours... Like one my favorite afternoon detinations: Mandarin City Pool. Speaking of pools, the weather gods have smilled upon us and Riviera's weekly pool party at the Purple Mountain Hotel is a go! And happy birthday to that fat kid with low self esteem, bad hair and lack of dress sense that nobody acknowleges... U know who u are!  Have a good one!
 
International DJ's cruising through town are Isreali Duo Lish - Kissdafunk of UK & Jungle / Breaks maniac DJ Slok from Italy. Live acts that are hitting the stages around town are Carsick Cars - Snapline - Booji - Hard Queen - and, of course, Avril Lavrigrngnee.
 
Should be plenty of other under-the-radar happenings going on as well... between U and I these are usually the better parties out there... void of all the corporate piggy backin' that always spoils the vibe.  But you don't need me to bore you with details, just scroll down and see for yourself.  Peace!
