Design Team Technique Jar

Jar_small
  • When cropping photos, show only the most important parts of the picture. This makes the page more interesting and allows room to place more photos and for journaling. ~ Martina

  • Using Ranger Glossy Accents over chipboard to give it the wet look. ~ Selena

  • By folding and stitching strips of patterned paper, you can make "ribbon-look" embellishments to perfectly match any scrapbook page layout. It also adds a 3-D effect which allows you to quickly and easily add texture and dimension to your scrapbook pages. ~ Jasmine

  • Want that "distressed" look on your layout? Here are some ways to do it:
Tearing edges: Tear towards you to get a white edge.
Crumpling: This can be done wet or dry. Dry is done by crumpling up a piece of paper and unfolding it. Repeat until you get the look you want. Wet crumpling is done by misting the paper with warm water, crumpling it into a ball and then flattening it by "sandwiching" it with a few paper towels and then pressing it flat with an iron.
Sanding: You will need a piece of fine to medium grade sandpaper. Gently sand the paper as much or as little as you like. You can sand paper as well as stickers, die cuts, and even photos to give them an aged look. Steel wool or wire brushes can be used too.
Crimping: To add texture to your cardstock, run it through a crimper, over and over in different directions. This softens and creases paper for a worn look. ~ Dea

Design Team Projects

The Design Team has been busy creating as usual.  In July they worked with Doodlebug Black & White and Autumn Leaves French Twist Papers.  They embellished with buttons, Heidi Swapp Flowers, Heidi Swapp Ghost Shapes and of course QuicKutz!  Be sure to check out all of their projects and leave some praise for their hard work in the DT gallery!
