His latest project, a collection of photographs of Tai boxer Tam is a compelling insight into the beauty of the disciplined physique. Alongside some literary, theoretical and poetic narratives, Lawrence Chua describes Bangkok (the backdrop) as the city of the invincible archangel, a fitting metaphor for Tam. A couple heading home decides to have a rest while returning from a fatiguing holiday and stay at a hotel for a couple of hours. They ask the receptionist to wake them after 4 hours. Checking out, they receive a bill totalling €350. The husband becomes furious and asks for an explanation. Both the manager and receptionist confirm that these are the standard rates. The hotel features an exquisite sauna with massage service, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, all free for use by the honorable guests. Each evening features performances by world class artists during dinner and later in the bar. But we didn't use nor watch these, the husband replies. The manager sticks to his point; they are all included but unfortunately both of you, you didn't enjoy these. Grumbling the husband finally takes out a check, fills it out and hands it to the manager. What, he yells, Sir, this is only a €100 check. Yes indeed he answers. I charged you €250 for making love to my wife. But I haven't, he replies irritated and loudly. My wife was here, so you could have taken advantage, he replies.
