New to the Mixed Dozen
Change of vintage and running out of stock means some of our popular
mixed dozen have had wine changes. Here are just a few of new wines
you can try in the dozen or as a single bottle.
Seppelt Pinot Gris
2004
Jeremy
Oliver 94 points!
"A delicate floral and citrusy fragrance of spicy
pear, apple and rose blossom precedes a long, fine and lean palate
of pure, tangy and crystalline fruit. It's taut, tight and classy,
with a nutty, mineral finish of crisp acids. Drink 2006-2009." -
Jeremy Oliver, OnWine.
$22.95 per bottle
Save $40 in a White Wine Dozen.
Neudorf Sauvignon
Blanc 2006
Staff
Choice.
To be honest
we're
not entirely the biggest fans of Sauvignon Blanc but when we need
something akin to a breath of fresh air after a few bottles of red
this is a good choice. Clean, reviving and very drinkable.
$25.95 per bottle
Save $50 in a BBQ Dozen.
Kay Bros "Hillside"
Shiraz 2003
Robert
Parker 92 points!
You can not stop Kay Bros this month as the wines are outstanding
and as Robert Parker say
"Colin
Kay fashions old style, high quality, distinctive Australian reds.
It is a broad, savory, expansively flavored, full-bodied Shiraz to
enjoy over the next decade."

Wine Advocate #161
$39.95 per bottle
Save $40 in a Red Wine Dozen.
International Customers please note freight for dozens will be

Magnum v 750ml.
FREE!
Saturday 21st July -
2:00pm to 5:00pm
Does bottle size matter
when it comes to ageing wine?
This is your opportunity
to find out as we open a regular and large format size bottle of two
wines. Tasting the same wine but in different bottles sizes will
test and educate you on why, or if, size does matter in the wine
world.
The tasting, like the
learning, is free.
Wines on tasting will include:
: :
Petaluma Chardonnay 1995 (Magnum & 750ml)
: :
St Michael Merlot 2001 (Magnum & 750ml)
We look forward
to seeing you this Saturday!
Wine Trivia
Last week's question
was...
What does Hardys,
Yalumba and Gramp Orlando's have in common with Canberra?
We
though this would result in a flood of answer's relating to the
Prime Minster's cellar but instead we only got correct answers.
Hamish gave us the most complete answer identifying that Sidney Hill
Smith (Yalumba), Tom Hardy (Hardys) and Hugo Gramp (Gramp Orlando's)
each tragically died in the "Kyeema" air crash of 1938 on their way
to a meeting with the government regarding wine taxes.
This
week we ask...
What wines are in the Australian Prime
Minister's cellar?
It was
a challenge for us to find an accurate cellar list for this question
and while our source is a couple of years old it may be as close to
the official list as possibility available. Due to confidentiality
laws the PM's current wine list is keep quite but if you can source
a better portfolio than ours, and back up your claims, it will be
accepted. Good luck.
For your chance to win a
Lunch Special at the Brasserie, or a $30 voucher at Old &
Rare Wines, email your correct answer to
sales@winehouse.com.au!
Extra
consideration is given to detailed answers where many correct
replies are received in a short time period.
Your Questions?
Have
you got a wine question which will keep us guessing?
If you
send your wine orientated question in to us and we publish it, you
will receive
a $30 Lunch Special at the
Brasserie, or a $30 voucher at Old & Rare Wines!
Guidelines: the question must have a wine focus and it shouldn't be
'googleable' ie it must require some research.
