![]() Pressure on national oil companies is risingWASHINGTON - The ball is in the court of the national oil companies: Petrleos de Mexicanos, Saudi Aramco, Petrleos de Venezuela, Russia's Gazprom and the like. World demand for oil is now 86.1 million barrels a day. In seven years, the U.S. Energy Information Administration expects it will be 97.3 million, and by 2030, 117.6 million barrels a day. Based on what's known about the world's petroleum reserves, nearly all of that extra oil will have to come from countries that have national oil company monopolies.
