Important Adjustments to DomainSponsor Program
Greetings ***,
2007 has certainly been exciting so far! Many existing and new relationships have been seen to grow, and hundreds of you attended our DOMAINfest Global event in Hollywood, CA or our European DOMAINfest in fun-filled Amsterdam where we had our first ever live auction that produced over $1 million in sales. We appreciate your ongoing decision to do business with us and are proud that this has been a record-breaking first half of the year for all of us. We look forward to the remainder of 2007 to be even more successful for all of us, in partnership.
There are important adjustments to our publisher programs coming up in this second half of 2007.
New Payments Options
We are excited to inform you that we’re expanding our payment program to be more efficient for you with new options and several new adjustments.
Beginning with June’s monthly payment cycle distributed just after July 1st 2007, we will automatically transition U.S. based wire payments over to a direct deposit. This will be transparent to you, improve the distribution speed and best of all, it will eliminate the bank fees you currently pay on wires.
Prior to mid-August, we will open up the option to transition from checks and PayPal to the new direct deposit payment process. To qualify, you must be a DomainSponsor publisher for more than one full month’s payment period, meet the $50 minimum payment and also maintain a U.S. bank account.
We will be phasing out the PayPal payment method. We will be transitioning those on PayPal over to the new direct deposit payment or check payment methods within the next 30-60 days. If you have any concerns specifically related to this, please contact your Account Manager or our DomainSponsor Support team at DSSupport@domainsponsor.com.
Unfortunately at this time and in all cases, making payments to non-US bank accounts via direct deposit is not possible and will continue to be paid as check or wires with the minimum monthly payment threshold of $1,000.
All new accounts will automatically begin with check payment process for a minimum of one full month’s payment cycle. Following the full month’s payment cycle, publishers may request to be transitioned into the new direct deposit program for U.S. accounts, or to wire payments for those non-U.S. bank accounts that meet the minimum wire requirements.
In all cases, the Net-7 payment term still applies, and continues to be the fastest payout in the industry. In summary, if your payment method is now:
- U.S. bank wire
- You will be changed to direct deposit and you can immediately begin to save your bank wire fee.
- A Check
- If a new publisher, you will begin with check payments; and if an existing publisher, you will soon have the option to continue as check or change to direct deposit program with only the $50 min. payment (both after a minimum of being paid by check for a full month’s period).
- PayPal
- We will contact you soon, to begin the transition to either the check or direct deposit.
Watch the “Announcements” section in your account for updates on all transition options and schedules, as we roll them out. If you have any questions, please contact your Account Manager or our DomainSponsor Support team at: DSSupport@domainsponsor.com.
W-8 and W-9 Updates
To comply with U.S. federal law, we need to update our confidential records which we keep in-house. We will perform an audit on each U.S. account and work with you to bring your W-9 records up to date with your valid Social Security Number or business’ Federal ID number.
For foreign clients, there are several W-8 type forms. Many are one page and simply state that you represent a foreign company or you just live overseas without a business presence within the U.S., and that you can be US tax-exempt. We are still required by U.S. federal law to maintain the completed W-8 for our records of your status.
Once initiated, there will be a 60-day grace period. If after that period the records are not in compliance, revenue payments will need to be held until all updates are made. The DomainSponsor Support staff and your Account Manager will be working directly with you throughout this procedure to complete this Federal requirement. 1
Referral Program
We want to take a moment to remind you of the upcoming, planned adjustments that will first be reflected in the August 2007 payments (July’s payment cycle). This restructured Referral Program balances between revenue sharing, duration and traffic volume. For further details of this adjustment, please speak directly with your Account Manager.
Multi-Language Landers
The new multi-language landers are available as an “open-Beta” test. They can automatically change from English to Spanish, French, German or Japanese as the preferred language choice of the end user. We are moving into phase two of our test program and would like to open it up to more publishing partners. For more details on this and how to join the open-Beta test, please contact your Account Manger.
New Landers and Design Enhancements
We have several new exciting landers coming as part of our next-generation lander delivery platform. Next week you will see improvements to our top-performing default lander, Berlin, plus one new high-performance lander directly available through the Publisher Tool, Galactica. The original Berlin will still be available under the name West Berlin. We are also working on a new set of landers designed for certain verticals and domain profiles to give you even more monetization options, which will become available throughout the summer.
Looking forward to more success for the rest of 2007!
Once again, we are committed to your success. Thank you for your partnership with DomainSponsor and we look forward to continue to work closely with you and, as always, we strive to offer fast, personal and an excellent customer experience for your domain needs, well into the future.
Regards,

1 As background, the W-8’s and W-9 are forms that the U.S. Federal Government requires an agent, such as DomainSponsor, making payments on U.S. sourced incomes, etc. to maintain as record. The W-8’s are focused on Non-U.S. persons/businesses, while the W-9 focuses on U.S. persons/businesses. The data that is collected by these two types of forms covers taxpayer identification number (TIN) and claims for exemption. For further reading and details, please refer directly to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website at www.irs.gov under the “More Forms and Publications” and then “Form and Instructions number” links.
