Dear Mr Kally,

Welcome to the Winter/Spring edition of the Mercedes eZine, with the latest news and views from the world of Mercedes-Benz.

In this issue, we reveal the all new C-Class, this new model offers the latest styling in a either a sporty Avantgarde or the refind sophistication of the Elegance. Behind the wheel it provides a new feel for the road.

The new generation E-Class diesel is so smooth you wouldn't know it was a diesel except for the fuel economy. John Wright takes the E 280 CDI through its paces.

The S 65 AMG blew away "Dr Karl", see how much this man of science appreciated its horse power.

Don't forget to enter our competition to win a Mercedes-Benz key ring, trump card pack and business card holder.

Safe Motoring,

Mercedes-Benz

Top class C

The age of compromise is over. The new C-Class successfully combines top class comfort and dynamic handling. An ingenious new chassis known as Agility Control is one of the key ingredients that unites these two historically opposed chassis settings. Led by the flagship C 280, the latest generation C-Class looks sharp and sporty. In a first for Mercedes-Benz, the new C-Class Avantgarde model is distinguished by three longer louvers with the three-pointed star embedded at the centre, a placement formerly reserved for coup?s and roadsters.

The sweetest diesel

Australian motoring writer John Wright says of the E 280 CDI, "this 3.0-litre V6 is the sweetest diesel engine I have ever sampled". Complete with 80-litre tank, the diesel E-Class delivers the kind of urgency once only associated with a big V8 petrol engine. Zero to 100km/h is the smooth, quiet work of eight seconds. At a steady 100km/h, the average fuel consumption is 7.5 litres per 100km and you can do better if you gentle that right foot.

Horse power
A mix of muffled grunt with an almost sub-sonic penetrating rumble - the understated but powerfully present engine noise is a metaphor for the S 65 AMG. Mercedes-Benz implies quality with robust engineering and Benz is better than most at extracting lots of horsepower from a given size of engine. Six litres is a very large engine for most car manufacturers. So an S-Class with a 6.0-litre bi-turbo V12 engine would have lots and lots of horses under the bonnet.
