Mooyah, a Plano-based restaurant that's laser focused on selling made-to-order burgers and fries, has only been open since April. But already Dave Tessier is a regular.

Male and 21, the West Plano resident is exactly the type of "core customer" that's supported the fast-food industry for years. But at Mooyah's, the burgers are made from fresh (not frozen) patties, sell for at least double the typical fast-food price and include topping options such as sauted mushrooms and grilled onions

Mooyah's is part of a growing group of burger-meisters looking to do for beef, turkey and veggie burgers what Starbucks did for coffee - buy higher quality ingredients, up the selling price and the atmosphere, and attract consumers turned off by much of what the term "fast food" has come to represent.

Government, lenders working to curtail foreclosures

As government and the housing industry commemorate June as National Homeownership Month, their accolades are tempered by their efforts to ensure that consumers continue to have a reason to celebrate.

The federal government and others in the housing industry have pulled out all the stops to address a serious national problem –- rising foreclosures and the urgency to preserve homeownership.

The issue is so hot that a program last week on foreclosure presented by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development sold out.
