Visionaries |
| |
Visionaries is a new series launching on BBC Word this week, looking at the nature of what makes a fully-fledged futurist. Talent is obviously not enough; the history of art and science is littered with forgotten geniuses, and the world today is full of immensely talented unknowns. Some believe to be a true visionary you need to test all boundaries and harbour a grand obsession. Classical icons such as Leonardo da Vinci, Mozart and architect Christopher Wren certainly seem to fit the description, but do any of today's artists meet the visionary criteria?

Accidental Angler |
| |
In the last episode of the Accidental Angler series, fisherman Charles Rangeley-Wilson (pictured) goes in search of the wild brown trout in London's River Thames. Following leads from a number of people he meets along the way, his quest takes him from an oasis of calm on the River Wandle to the sewerage system of central London to trace the now-hidden River Fleet on its course to the Thames. It's an emotional journey for Charles who sees the existence of the brown trout as a positive sign that the rivers are coming back to life.
