Need a really, really secure Linux system? Short of turning it off and locking the server room door, you do have options for buttoning up a Linux box in ways that severely limit local access to the machine -- and it will still perform its intended function.
This week's Linux zone feature shows how to take a Linux system and 1) disconnect it from currently attached -- and potentially attachable -- removable media drives, then 2) remove all command interpreters, with the combined goal of preventing the system from executing any unauthorized software. It's not a simple process, but it just might help you get a better night's sleep:
