Tip of the Week
Hi Criss,
We're starting a new season at Scrapper's Guide. We'll be demonstrating the techniques of good page design AND we're going to make it really easy for you to scraplift what we do by giving you a fre'e downloadable template!
Each week we'll invite you to use the template to create your own page to post in the Digital Scrapper Gallery. We'll feature one of the pages from the gallery in the next Tip of the Week newsletter.
This new focus will take the place of Week-By-Week-Technique that we've been doing, though I'll be adding videos to our bargain store from time to time.
I'll Go First!
While our newly formed Creative Team is getting ready, I'll start the ball rolling by giving the first design example. This is a page I created for the August 2006 Digital Scrapper Premier (my subscription newsletter).
I want you to notice how SIMPLE this design is. I cut the page in two and filled half of it with a photo. How easy is that?
However, notice how effective it is! This is a great way to make your photo the star of your page. Use the photograph to dictate the colors and kinds of paper and embellishments you end up using.
See a larger view of this page and get the grayscale template.
It's a girl!
Jenny Binder, who designed several of the CDs we offer on our site, including the very popular A Formal Heritage, just had a baby girl. Congratulations, Jenny! Take a peek at her darling little girl!
Linda's Tip
Here's a puzzling situation that a Digital Scrapper subscriber wrote to ask me about:
"When I put a shadow around a piece of torn paper on one layer, it appeared around one of my other pieces of paper also. I can't figure out why."
Can you guess the solution to this problem? Here's my answer to her.
Have a great week, and I hope to see LOTS of your pages in the Template Challenge Gallery this week!
Love and scrapbooking success,

Linda Sattgast
