Hot News Headlines
“Isn’t it sweet to shop at a store where members of the sales staff not only know their stock inside and out, but don’t hesitate to recommend a less expensive product when it’s appropriate?” That’s what Bob Levitus (Houston Chronicle) wonders in an article about the Apple Store and three new programs it recently introduced. “The one I find most compelling is the new One to One personal training service. For a mere $99 a year you get unlimited access to expert trainers at the Apple Store.” Levitus considers that “quite an amazing deal.

Aperture and iPhoto make a great team

Aperture and iPhoto In addition to working seamlessly with the applications in the iLife and iWork suites—letting you easily incorporate your images in presentations, DVD titles, podcasts, newsletters, web sites, and other print and digital materials—Aperture and iPhoto also support and complement one another superbly.

If, for example, you’d like to create a calendar or greeting card, you’ll find it incredibly easy to grab images from your Aperture library and bring them into iPhoto. It’s also just as easy to import a single photo or a group of photos into Aperture from iPhoto when you want to take advantage of Aperture’s advanced image processing tools or add iPhoto images to a fully customizable book project in Aperture.

What else makes iPhoto and Aperture a great team? Take our free online seminar, “Aperture for iPhoto Users,” and find out.

Pushing the envelope with Final Cut Pro

RED The Red Digital Cinema Camera Company seeks to do nothing less than inspire a revolution, simply by putting an astounding new digital cinema camera into the eager hands of filmmakers.

Using the company’s groundbreaking RED ONE, an ultra High Definition camera, filmmakers can not only capture footage in 4k but also edit it with ease and elegance. In Final Cut Pro, that is.

According to Ted Schilowitz, “Leader of the Rebellion” for RED, filmmakers taking advantage of the new Apple Pro Res 422 codec, can “take 4k files shot with the camera, plug it directly into a MacBook Pro on the set, see those files in Final Cut Pro, and actually edit them.” The combination of RED ONE and Final Cut Pro will thus usher in “a whole new breed of movie making.”

The Mac makes its mark at Hallmark

Hallmark At Hallmark Cards, smiles are one of the company’s biggest products. They’ve been mass producing them for nearly 100 years, delighting recipients throughout the world with an almost limitless variety of greeting cards.

For the last 20 years, the Mac has provided the technological foundation for Hallmark’s creative department, not only enabling an all-digital workflow but actually inspiring “an explosion of creativity, a speed-to-market breakthrough of ideas and unique combinations of them,” notes Hallmark’s Senior VP of Creative, Paul Barker.

You can see—and hear—that inspiration in such new products as the recently introduced “Project WOW” greeting cards. Find out how Hallmark artists developed and perfected the cards on their Macs using iTunes, Final Cut Pro, and a variety of other Mac software applications.

Giving back with music

American Idol During a special two-night performance in April, American Idol invited such artists as Celine Dion, Il Divo, Carrie Underwood, Bono, Annie Lennox, Rascal Flatts, Kelly Clarkson, and others to raise awareness of extreme poverty in America and Africa.

And for a limited time, you can purchase and download a variety of the music and music video performances from the “American Idol: Idol Gives Back” show from iTunes. Thanks to a special arrangement with the Charity Project Entertainment Fund, all net proceeds from the sale of the exclusive content available on the iTunes Music Store will be donated to the fund to help children living in extreme poverty in Africa and the U.S.
