Interview with John
Zachman
I would like to let you know about a
recent article I wrote. In one of my other lives as Editor-in-Chief of Perspectives of the International
Association of Software Architects (IASA), I recently conducted an in-depth
interview with John Zachman , the
founder of the field of enterprise architecture.
This ten page interview was published
in the most recent Perspectives issue
that was our twenty year retrospective on enterprise architecture.
If you have any
interest in enterprise architecture, the interview is a fascinating look at one
of the foremost thinkers in the field. This issue of Perspectives also includes several other
important articles about enterprise architecture.

And one other
exciting project…
I have been
developing a new process for creating effective Enterprise Architectures. This
process is called Simple Iterative Partitions, or, as we fondly call it, SIP.
Why do we need
another methodology for enterprise architecture? Existing methodologies do not
address the issue of system complexity. Complexity is the biggest reason large
enterprise architectures fail.
SIP attacks
complexity head-on. The result? Faster delivery, reduced costs, and better
alignment of IT to business needs.
Because of patent
restrictions, I have been limited in how much I could discuss this. However, the
patent is now filed! If you are thinking about creating an enterprise
architecture, or would like to hear why you might want to create an enterprise
architecture, or want to understand why complexity is such an important issue,
let me know! I would be happy to discuss SIP with you.
Best
wishes,
CTO,
