Earlier this week I determined that I am a real dork. I was in the bookstore in the Milan airport getting reading material for my flight home. So while some revel in being the first on the street to rock a new pair of kicks, I became thoroughly ecstatic when I saw "On Chesil Beach" the latest by Ian McEwan (he of Atonement and the Comfort of Strangers fame), because it won't release in the US until June 5. I lunged and bought his latest novel, but alas, my intellectualism was short lived as i spent the entirety of the flight reading European fashion magazines.

But back to Italy... my stay at the Villa D'Este on Lake Como proved to be one of my favorite vacation stints ever. Those Italians really know how to do it right - eating well, socializing with panache, dressing with flair and always stopping to smell the roses (or Wisteria).
