The Committee of Concerned Journalists

Once a revered element of mainstream culture, Journalism is slowly seeing
its integrity stripped away by a variety of factors. The modern reality of
media conglomerates, 24-hour news cycles, corporate-owned newspapers, and
even the growing online culture of blogs and vlogs has left the coveted
tradition of objective reporting in a perilous state.

Formed at Harvard University in 1997 by a consortium of editors,
journalists, publishers and scholars, The Committee of Concerned
Journalists (CCJ) is a non-profit organization committed to preserving the
noble principles and values of the profession as it moves into a brave new
world. The official CCJ website is filled with fascinating articles on
current events, the latest buzz from the Media industry, as well as a cool
section called 'J-Tools' that has fresh ideas, strategies, and techniques
to help both citizens and journalists navigate the news world.

Books on Line

Listening to "books on tape" is a relatively modern practice, a practical
alternative to reading that is used by the visually impaired, regular road
trippers, and many other people. Librivox.Org is an ambitious project
that, with the help of many volunteers, aims to convert every single book
in the United States public domain into free, downloadable audio files.

This non-profit, open source website takes podcasting to a whole new level,
with its bold goal of the "acoustical liberation of books in the public
domain". The virtual library is filled with thousands of "audiobooks" that
have been diligently recorded one chapter at a time by volunteer
readers. Download an audio book of interest, browse the latest news on the
project, or volunteer your free time and become an official Librivox
reader.
