Week By Week Technique

Hi Criss,

Why do you scrapbook?

I ask you this because I was trying to tell someone why scrapbooking is so popular, and I suddenly wondered if MY reason for scrapbooking is the reason most other people would give.

Then again, I'm sure there are multiple reasons for scrapbooking.

Would you take a moment and tell me the most important reason you scrapbook? You can give me more than one reason, but put your TOP reason first, please!

If your answer is the same as someone else's, that's okay. I still want to know, so I can see which are the most common reasons.

Write your answer here.

Two-Page Album Spread

Nancy Marti's page

As part of our "Album in a Month" focus, Creative Team member Nancy Marti is making an album for her future grandchild that tells the family history in a storybook fashion. As a picture book author myself, I think that's a fantastic idea!

Because this is a book for a child, Nancy has chosen bright colors and a simple, yet eye-catching design.

When making an album, it pays to ask yourself the question, "Who is it for?" The answer will often dictate your direction and make design decisions easier.

Tip for Sharper Photos

high pass filterWhen you get a photo that seems too blurry to be fixed with traditional methods, try using the High Pass filter:

* Press Ctrl + J (Mac: Cmd + J) to duplicate the photo layer.
* Press Ctrl + Shift + U (Mac: Cmd + Shift + U) to turn the duplicate layer into black and white.
* Choose Filter > Other > High Pass. Move the slider to around 10 pixels and click okay.
* In the Layers palette, click on the menu at the top that says "Normal" and choose "Soft Light."

If the effect is too strong, lower the opacity of this layer slightly by moving the Opacity slider to the left.

Until next week . . .

Love and scrapbooking success,

Linda
