From the Editor
If you are still discovering the richness that the 2007 Office system provides as a development platform, consider testing it out for yourself. The MSDN Evaluation Center is offering trial versions of Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, Office SharePoint Server 2007, and Office SharePoint Designer 2007. Once you have the software, spend some time with the learning resources to enhance your evaluation experience. I mentioned a month ago that there is great new Office 2007 system content coming online all the time and, wow, it is really the case. For instance, there are five new developer Information Centers on the SharePoint Server 2007 Developer Portal: SharePoint Server 2007 Information Center; Business Data Catalog Information Center; Enterprise Search Information Center; Excel Services Information Center; and the Web Content Management Information Center.

Also, learn how to create a development environment for the 2007 Office system, complete with examples of applications. And if you are evaluating the 2007 Office system, don't miss the Office Developer How-To Center where MVP Ken Getz provides task-based samples that help guide you through the new features. Ken combines video demos, code samples, and conceptual overviews in a visual presentation of real world scenarios.

Finally, there is still time to make plans for MIX07. MIX it up this year from April 30 to May 2 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. And while you're checking it out, don't forget to enter the REMIX contest. Redesign the MIX07 home page for chance at winning a paid registration to the conference, three nights at the Venetian hotel, and US$1,000 toward your travel expenses. In addition, we will be providing Zunes to ten designers awarded honorable mentions.
Thanks for reading.

This article reviews the roles of each party in the identity metasystem, introduces Windows CardSpace, and provides scenarios involving both ASP.NET Web applications and Windows Communication Foundation services - explaining how to integrate Windows CardSpace as an authentication mechanism for each scenario.
Also in MSDN Magazine, Aaron Skonnard highlights how Windows Communication Foundation builds on XML as the data model and uses SOAP and WS-Addressing as the messaging framework to create a unified programming model that allows a great deal of flexibility in how data is represented and messages are transmitted.
