2007 Geneva Motor Show Photo Gallery
  • An other "Embargo Buster" topped the headlines this week. Infiniti dropped the bomb a day early and revealed a new G37 to the public. The first reviews of the styling were a bit mixed with a few of us wishing for a more radical departure, similar to when it first graced these shores. The details are still forth coming but clearly the G37 is aimed squarely at the BMW 335 market and judging by their past performance the G37 should be up to the task of taking on the 3 series.
  • Does the LX400h stand the test of time? A recent long term review gave credence to the legendary Lexus reliability, but also started to point out signs of aging after only 40,000 miles. To many of us the jury is still out on where to market the hybrid. Should it be a performance enhancing feature, or marketed as a gas saving measure? Either way the RX400 easily passed the test, but for those of us that "drive em till the wheels fall off", the signs of aging at a mere 40,000 milesmay be alarming.
  • Those of us that admire the Germans, often wonder why they have to design things with such a high degree of complexity. It seems the attitude of "we make it technically superior" my have backfired when it comes to the hybrid. It seems the Germans never read the simple book when it came to hybrids, and ventured out on their own and designed a technically masterpiece that is so complex it suffers from a variety of technical issues. So many issues, that it may delay the debut of the models. Some things are best kept simple and the Japanese have proven they know how to make a hybrid that is reliable.
  • Life is tough when you make one of the finest sedans on the p***t. Every manufacturer in the world seems to be gunning for the BMW 3 Series. Now it seems that Mercedes feels they have the answer to the 3 series with their new C350. A worthy opponent no doubt, but if I were a betting man I would believe that any advantages found in the new C-class may merely be a short term gain. After all to stay on top you need to fast and reactive, and BMW has proven they are just that.
  • Is BMW feeling the heat from Audi? Rest assured BMW is not sitting on the laurels and their CEO has made it public that Audi will NEVER surpass them while on his watch. Audi's latest onslaught continues with a release A5/S5 and now the A7 is just down the road. With all of these new models and all of the hype they are generating, BMW wants it known they counter every move. Reminds me a bit of family feud.
