2> Research Enthusiasts: Get Involved with WOMMA
Do you like numbers? Do you love data? If you're looking to flex your research muscles and build an impressive word of mouth resume, WOMMA can help. Our Research Council will soon be convening, and we need passionate word of mouth marketers and researchers to join its ranks.
WOMMA's Research Council is a group of data mavens dedicated to building the word of mouth marketing industry with valuable metrics and important measures. This Council is one of WOMMA's most active groups and it has already produced several exciting projects, including the WOMMA Terminology Framework, Measuring Word of Mouth Volumes 1 and 2, and WOMMA's 2006 Research Symposium.
We're looking for enthusiastic individuals to join this Council and help us develop new research projects and finish work on existing ones. As part of the Research Council, you will:
Help WOMMA update and market its Terminology Framework
Contribute to WOMMA's Data Anthology project, identifying and vetting the industry's most important stats
Work on WOMMA's third research collection, Measuring Word of Mouth Volume 3, either as an author or a member of the Editorial Board
Develop programming for WOMMA's annual research symposium
Actively participate on WOMMA's Research Blog
If you're interested in serving on the Research Council, email WOMMA's Research Editor, Shannon Stairhime, at shannon@womma.org.

DONE:
1> From the WOMMA News Blog: WOMMA on PayPerPost
On Friday, March 9, the Los Angeles Times published an article that questioned the ethics of compensating bloggers for their opinions. Some of you may have read the piece, which focused on Orlando-based PayPerPost and quoted as its critics two of the nation's most respected business bloggers, Jeff Jarvis and Jason Calacanis.
WOMMA shares these critics' concerns and has published a response to the Times report in support of full and clear disclosure within sponsored blogs, urging clear standards as well as strict guidelines on the method and mode of disclosure.
We advise our members to watch this issue in coming weeks and months, as we expect it to heat up as criticism of sponsored blog content spreads.
