RIP Heather MacAllister
Heather MacAllister died on February 13, 2007, in Portland, Oregon, after a 3-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 38 years old. Ms. MacAllister was the founder and artistic director of Big Burlesque and the Fat Bottom Revue, the first burlesque act exclusively featuring large-sized performers. Tours included New York, SanFrancisco, Canada, Los Angeles and various venues in the Midwest, eastand west coasts. Aside from her career in the performing arts, Ms. MacAllister had a degree in anthropology and worked for many non-profit groups such as Triangle Foundation, Michigan's statewide civil rights organization for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender population. She also committed a great deal of time to anti-racism training. In 2005 Leonard Nimoy photographed Ms. MacAllister and her dance troupe for his exhibit "Maximum Beauty," which opened at the Bonni Benrubi gallery on 57th street in New York City. (if you look at the one where they are clothed, Heather is on the right)

In closing, here are Heather's last wishes:
"Please remember to love each other, and to love ourselves. Take care of our minds and bodies, without fail and against all odds. And know, beyond doubt, that we are all beautiful, amazing beings. Never forget. This is what I lived for. Take care of yourselves, you beautiful beings."
Please support Heather's dream of the Fat Fashion College Scholarship Fund. Heather wanted very much to start a scholarship fund to provide small scholarships for fat college students to buy clothing that would make them look and feel fabulous. Checks can be made to Heather MacAllister College Scholarship Fund, and mail to:
Cullum Law 1390 Market St., Suite 818 San Francisco, CA 94102. For more information, call Carole Cullum, 415 863 5300. Or Click HERE.
In support of Heather's last wishes, LOVE YOUR BODY! Project's proceeds for the month of March and 5% of Big On Batik's profits until the end of April will be sent to the "Fat Fashion Scholarship Fund."
Best Regards, Cathy, Satu and Tiina Big On Batik and LOVE YOUR BODY! Project
